We followed this female humpback for 2 hours and she breached almost like clockwork every 3-5 minutes sometimes more often. While breaching is certainly not an unusual humpback behaviour breaching this often is.

Consider the energy expended to propel 30 to 40 tons out of the water and the fact that while in Hawaiian waters these humpback whales do not eat at all, there is no food for them.
