Maui snorkeling (May 2009) with a cheap underwater digital camera: White-tipped shark

The highest point on Maui is seen here where the buildings are. I think it's an observatory of some sort. I'll research it later.

This and the previous 2 were taken during my third revenue flight since coming to Hawaii. On this day I had to back-to-back Hilo to Honolulu flights. It takes 1:55 of flight time round-trip, just under an hour in the air each way.

These Lillies were really neat and they would close every night at sunset. This was a little tricky trying to shoot the pictures for HDR handheld but I hope you like the result. 3 exposure HDR. No photoshop.

A crystal clear day at Honolua Bay on Maui. This is a well known surfing spot and you can tell that while the water looks clear & inviting, there is little life under the surface. The constant turbulence of typical wave action keeps any coral from growing. A little farther out, in deeper water, life is more abundant. The tourist boats however anchor closer into shore where everything is more peaceful.
