I love plants! Flowers, vegetables, trees, and the New Zealand bush. I look at my garden almost every day and when I do, I see beautiful things. Amazing colours, rain drops, touches of frost, lacy leaf skeletons, reflections, refractions, and tiny treasures. These elements are important to my wellbeing, offering me a connection to the natural world. This is what I paint in oil on canvas.
Sometimes, when you squint hard enough or you plunge into the shadows after being in bright light, the world you see becomes blurry, and the objects in front of you melt into soft blobs of luminous colour. The world loses its sharp edges and complicated lines, and in its place a collection of works radiating warmth and darkness.
This is my painting.

Please come home soon. We know you have important business to take care of in Bangalore and London, but we miss you so much.
Besides, as you can see, Mommy dresses us in clothes that are too small (note Mason's pants) and can't strap us in our stroller snug enough (note Avery's slouch). The litter box needs scooped and the dogs aren't getting any attention either. I think Mommy at least wants you home to take care of those things. In particular, she misses when you take on FBU (First Baby Up) duty. Hey, and if you take us out on a walk by yourself (Mommy says it is a pretty fabulous experience), she would have an empty house all to herself! I'm not sure *why* she'd want that though.
Anyhow ... the bottom line is that we really want you home Mama, safe and healthy! We're counting down the days ... 7 down, 4 to go!!
Love you, Mason & Avery
Postcard of Mason-Dixon Markers, on route 467 about 7 miles west of Delmar, Delaware/Maryland.
Image shows three stone markers on a plot of dirt surrounded by a brick walkway. The Mason-Dixon Markers are various sizes, and the largest, white marker appears to be mounted on a stone. A partial view of a black fence is in the background.

Newly hatched male mason bee - another backyard project. These gentle bees can be purchased as pupae and are said to be easy to raise. The males don't even have a stinger, but this little guy tried to bite me when I picked up his cocoon. Once fully hatched though, he decided to just sit on my hand for a while before flying off.

I love this one's coloring, big brown splotches with black and light brown peppering, a black mask, and black points.
But Jamison(Jamie/Jame/Puppy #4) still HAS to be my favorite. <3

mason bees are solitary, non-honey making bees, native to every state west of the rockies & critical for good, early-spring pollination. the terrarium is a couple years old, and the mosses are still doing pretty well. i'm considering adding a small fern, but i hesitate to disrupt the balance.
Just one shot before I hit the sack of Leah Mason from last night's Mt. Desolation gig at The Lexington in London.
I was kind of annoyed when I found out a second support act was coming on before Mt. Desolation and just wanted them to be over ... until I saw Leah shred as though she'd been playing forever!
After that I was mesmerised, as were most of the people packed into the tiny Lexington. Her soulful voice and rocking tunes have wide appeal and she can play guitar like the best of them. Let's just hope we get to see and hear more from her in the years to come.
