Managed to get a photo of the new pilot boat "Pacific Guardian." The 19.9 meter (65 ft) craft was built in Campbell River. Designed by Camarc in Scotland, the vessel has a refined double chine hull and a resiliently mounted wheelhouse to optimise noise and vibration for crew comfort. A pair of 1,000 hp diesels ensures a speed of 25 to 28 knots.

Managed to get out today for a bit so had a little trip out not to far from home, so thought I would have a look around Lumsdale Falls brilliant spot just a bit busy in the afternoon especialy this time of year but still worth the vist. They are situated in the Lumsdale Valley, near Matlock.

As you make your way through the gorge you'll pass several historical mill ruins, waterwheels, three mill ponds and a series of waterfalls. And also plenty of free parking... Bonus

managed to get outside in between the rain. also, had to fight off the midges.

I managed to get out for the first time this month and I took my Sony A6000 & Ricoh GR with me.

The reason I took my Sony was to see if I still want to sell it. After yesterday's day out in the dull rainy weather the GR kicked the Sony's butt. OK I only had the kit lens on the Sony but I wasn't too impressed.

I'll give it a few more days out with the prime lenses on to see if it's off to eBay or not.

The reason the GR won was the image quality at ISO1600. The Sony images with the kit lens were starting to fall apart :0(

Thanks for taking the time to view my image. Your comments & faves are greatly appreciated.

Still not managed the shot I want to get of a spider but at least I managed to get this one face on. Tiny little spider, probably slightly smaller than a 2 pence coin (legs included, body very small), running across my living room floor. I hope to be able to post a better shot soon though, I just need a willing model! If anyone has any tips on photographing spiders they would be very welcome. This one scuttled away just after I took this shot.

It's not as sharp and detailed around the face/eyes as I would like. Messed around with it quite a lot in PS. Crop, lighting, tones etc

Managed to capture this seal as he was jumping out of his pool for his fish...Taken at skegness natureland and seal sanctuary..

Finally managed to capture a photo I am happy with after being stuck in a rut for the last two months. We've struggled with a lot of rain for the past months here in Alberta which only added insult to injury. But at last, the rain stopped so I took a little last minute trip to Drumheller and I'm glad I did because the sunset really showed up!

Normally the park is quite dry but because of all the recent rain, the vegetation was very lush and green, and it contrasted the desert scene quite nicely. Add the beautiful golden sunset light beaming through the canyon and it brought some life into the scene.

This scene had a very high dynamic range and with the foreground being so close to the lens, it made for a technical picture to shoot. It is a focus stack of 3 images. Additionaly, I waited for the sun to get closer to the horizon for the light to be less harsh and the clouds to have more colours to snap an extra exposure for the sky. I also used a polarizing filter to remove glare and make the greens pop more.

I only managed 1 1/2 hours of Oiii due to clouds rolling in but as this was an unexpected clear night I can’t complain🤔 but I will as that’s what astronomers do....😁

This is my 2nd image testing out my Explore Scientific 0.7 focal reducer. Due to not being able to get correct back focus because of running out of inward travel on my focuser, I'm getting slight stars distortion in the bottom left and Right of the image.

I've have manage to correct some of this by copying the image, changing the blending mode of this layer and nudging left or right and up 1 or 2 pixels, as the error is only in the corners I masked out the rest of the image.

Note:

I removed all the stars after the initial processing using StarNet++ and then added the Ha stars back in at the end.

I managed another sunrise outing with friend and fellow flickr photographer Paul Hollins to Merewether Beach and Burwood Beach NSW; Australia yesterday morning.

Conditions were wonderful - a really low tide exposed this nice collection of rocks and these were complimented nicely by some great color just prior to sunrise.

It's scenes like this that make you grateful for good vision and health that allow us to enjoy the magnificence of nature and the world around us!!

****Hope this image appeals - be sure to view Large on Black!!!!****

Have a Wonderful Christmas everyone - and thanks for any comments, viewings or favorites!!

Managed to shoot a few lovely shots of one of these speedsters swooping low over the field picking of midget flies. This is a 50% crop.

Managed a couple of trips to lighthouse point today... here's two for tonight...

I managed to get a reasonable photo of one of these guys. They have a habit of being almost constantly on the move and don't settle for long so you don't get much chance to focus. This one is on a nettle leaf just resting, its not the food plant. Lady's Smock is the main food-plant.

We managed to do a snowshoe trip to Hyak Lake yesterday. A cold, beautiful day. We saw nobody else in the woods all day until we returned to the car at 5 pm, when a man was out walking his dogs.

Here is where we ate lunch. The temperature was about 22 degrees, with no breeze, complete silence. From here we wandered further uphill to the warming hut used for cross country skiing. A thermometer on the outside of the building, facing the sun, read a balmy 22 degrees.

When we started the car and let it warm up as we removed our gear the car's thermometer read 11 degrees.

Managed to get a very special package together just in time, Hopefully it will arrive for my Friend's Birthday.. Susie Stopped me from Shipping it before I put the Card in!

Good job Susie Sass!

Stray, Manila, Philippines.

Tip of the ear is not clipped meaning it has not yet been picked up for neutering and inoculations which volunteers manage specifically in this area of the city.

Managed to snap this one on a trip to Tal-y-bont earlier this week, very lucky to witness a beautiful sunset and be on the beach with my camera. Also lucky to have the guy fishing in the sea at the right of the frame to give a sense of scale.

Remnants of a fence on the edge of the chalk cliffs at Saltdean in Sussex, parts of which have evidently already been taken by rock falls. Shot from behind the newer fence that replaced it.

Having never managed to see an Arizona and California Railroad train, I've now done it twice in a week.

I've spent more than a few hours at Cadiz, perhaps because it has been one of those places where I've gotten lucky with one thing or another, perhaps because I've waited for the four-axles on the BNSF Cadiz local from Barstow.

But never have I seen the A+C train arrive from Parker AZ.

Tick.

It's a pity I didn't manage it in the days before the corporate Genesee and Wyoming look, I'm sure that elderly four-axles in that delicious green and cream looked absolutely sublime in this very spot.

But no matter.

It was non-stop at Cadiz on the TransCon, I barely had time to write my reference notes and there was another train on the horizon.

This was the cherry on the top. And sprinkles!

Finally managed to grab a photograph of single deck 162 which has also received its new madder and white livery.

Previously posted an image of this magnificent female, but had not managed to identify her against known images.

We made contact with the "Jaguar Identification Project" and they have confirmed her name is "Panama"

Fortunately they can be identified by their spot pattern. Their entire coat is like a fingerprint, and it never changes. It is completely unique to the individual.

In English she is known as "Butterfly" as the spots in the centre of her forehead, just above her nose (the first pattern to check) look like the open wings of a butterfly.

Managed to capture this European Goldfinch foraging on the seeds of Greater Knapweed with blowing seads last evening when all light was gone.

Managed to get out for a couple of hours today, and boy was it a little different to what it has been. Lovely clouds in the sky and no sun blazing down.

Anyway visited Wheal Coates, a fantastic spot and excellent for walking and of course photography. So i done a bit of both.

This must be one of the most photographed engine house ever, it is always busy here in the day time.

Managed to capture this sweet pea just after a light rain shower while the sun was coming back out.

I managed to grab a quick image of the crescent moon and the planet Venus before the clouds rolled in last night. Hope you like it!

Managed to find the nest site of a pair of Dartford warblers kept our distance as Mum & Dad kept a steady flow of food coming

Managed a few shots from the car in Burnham Overy Staithe this morning.

Herring Gull striding towards a car that just arrived with a breakfast

managed to change my settings as he flew from one rock to another. no perfect but good enough. quite cropped as I said was not ready.

Managed a nice dark background to make him stand out.

managed to outwit this little guy. I spent a good half an hour stalking and chasing through the bush. Eventually it sat still in the open for just long enough so I could rattle off a few frames. It doesn't look to impressed though.

Managed to get down to this spot in the rain without slipping to my death, and waited out the shower till it passed further down the Newlands Valley.

Rose pedal alley. What a great idea!!! Turning a scary alley into romantic, sweet and cozy dining for 2. At Valencia, Spain

It is amazing to travel from place to place and to see restaurant ideas and themes everywhere. As much as I want to open a resturant myself, to this point, I know that I can design one… but to manage it is something that I am working on to learn more about, hence I am studying at Les Roches Marbella to understand, more or less, of how to operate and manage a resturant, or to manage a hotel.

This alley in City Center of Valencia, Spain has inspired me of what little we can do to simply turn an alley of “no way I am going to walk in there” to “Oh wow! let’s go eat there” by simply using ROSE PEDAL. It is amazing how solution can be so simple that we normally look over it.

Unfortunately, we didn’t eat at the resturant instead we went to eat at an Italian resturant next to it. Great night, great trip and great time!

Managed to get my first three shots of the fledglings in the garden this morning. There is about five of them but not staying still long enough! The blue tits are nesting too so hope to get some shots of them also.

Managed to spot this lovely little owl just before sundown here in Delta.

California sure managed to get more than it's fair share of beautiful scenery. A closer look at McWay falls near Big Sur California. This is a single long exposure. This really is a magnificent location. The view, the sound of the waves and the smell of the eucalyptus trees around make for a magical experience. I can't recommend this location highly enough.

Managed to get a clear view from garden. Still a lot of light pollution.

Managed to get out yesterday and shoot some of the autumn colours before they disappear completely . This is Golithia falls near Bodmin one of my favourite spots in Cornwall , a special place that i all ways visit once a year .
