I only ever managed a couple of decent shots of plain blue 68's a few years back, when there were several waiting to be given Transpennine vinyls. So it was nice to see on my way out of work that former Scotrail 68006 was at the Heysham end on the branch, meaning it would lead north after reversing at Morecambe. In glorious light, 68006 leads an additional 6C52 Heysham - Sellafield flasks pass Holmegate Farm, with 68016 on the rear.

Wahey! Managed to recover my fluffed shots so I get the classic image to add to my collection after all. Took a fair bit of cloning and cleaning but got there in the end. Pity about the peeps but hey, scale.
I Google'd this and not surprisingly found hundreds of near identical images. Hey-ho. Couldn't not do it though, could I?
So.. lots of pictures taken with the X-E1, stitched in Microsoft ICE and then cleaned and tweaked in a bunch of other software. Threw in a shade of cross processing for that edgy, ain't I a cool dude look. Does it suit me?
Thanks for visiting and please come again soon.. no really..
Regards
Cluke
An amazing mystery tour awaits you on this link....
Go on, dare you :D
Finally managed to catch up with one of the new logojets. Seen here departing as BA580 to MXP, which was a surprise as I had read that it wasn’t operating today.
I am going to post 2 shots from each month of 2024. One from land, and one from the air.
SB DMVW Max Turn is departing Wilton, North Dakota, after doing some work. We fought wildfire smoke and clouds during this chase, but managed to get sun on a few shots.
Shot on 10-10-24
The Chase Is On - An adult male Golden Eagle pursues a California Ground Squirrel after missing his initial strike.
I was fortunate to witness an amazing moment of natural history when a Golden Eagle dropped down on this squirrel and actually chased his prey down on foot in an attempt to catch it.
This is the first image of the sequence that I captured of the eagle generating momentum with his wings and lunging at the squirrel. Typically, I see Golden Eagles moving rather awkwardly on land but this individual moved with agility and purpose.
I have been photographing Golden Eagles since 2013 and spent countless hours watching them soar, hunt and rest. At last I managed to document a hunting sequence in the wild last Christmas Eve.
Species: Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) + California Ground Squirrel (Otospermophilus beecheyi)
Location: San Benito County, CA, USA
Equipment: Nikon D850 + 200-500mm f5.6 ED VR, Handheld
Settings: 1/1600s, ISO: 360, f/5.6, +0.3 EV
I managed to sneak up on these elegant swans caught in a torrential downpour on the outskirts of this farmers field. My success is solely attributed to the rain which muffled my approach through the brush and brambles. I got soaked in the process but this image was worth it.
Managed to get out for a short walk this afternoon. The temperature has gone up and the sun came out. Heavenly. 😍
Took this in the garden of one of our friends who lives only a few doors down from us.
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :)
managed to capture this delight while zoom-zooming in Vancouver yesterday, would love to meet the owners :)
I managed to finish work a little early . So I drove out onto Romney Marsh Looking for Little Owls they were not showing . Thus started my Red Letter two hours ! 1/ Barn owl very close 2/ a Marsh harrier in flight 3/ this Buzzard asking for a photo 4/ a Woodpecker as I sat under a tree looking for the little owls that I never got to see today . I have often spent a day getting a shot of one of these birds on the above list let alone all four in two hours
Managed to get an hour, with the camera, in Glen Slig today. Had to drive through a snow storm on snowy roads to get there, but it was worth it.
The incredibly atmospheric Old City in Nazareth really does manage to meet tourist expectations. But Nazareth is a big, modern, growing city of shopping malls and dual carriageways, with a population of 100,000 and the centre of cultural and political life for Arabs in Israel proper. A great way to appreciate it in all its aspects is to take in the view from Mount Precipice (395 m above sea level).
Mount Precipice is said to be where Jesus was chased after preaching a very unpopular sermon at the Nazareth Synagogue – when the crowd tried to throw him off Mount Precipice's steep cliffs: "They got up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, so that they might hurl him off the cliff. But he passed through the midst of them and went on his way." (Luke 4: 29–30)
On top of the ridge above the old city is the modern minaret (2009) and onion dome of the Nebi Saeen Mosque, and to its right, the red roof and white tower of the St Gabriel Hotel. Further to the left is the 1906-23 Salesian Church, the Basilica of Jesus the Adolescent. On the lower slopes, the Annunciation Basilica is very obvious - and huge. The Synagogue Church and Christ Church Anglican are visible to its left if one knows what one is looking for. Finally on the left are the green dome and minaret of the modern Al-Sadiq Mosque.
I manage to capture a bird at a perfect spot..
this for me was really hard to do..
I had to be silent and motionless,
the whole entire time, just so that
the bird won't fly away..
I was at Griffith Park
I spotted this little green iridescent beetle land and managed to get a couple of shots before it flew off
I managed to hold on to the notion of definitely not doing a back to back 365 until just after 11pm. That's when I took this, just in case. Don't rule it out, I said to myself.
You can tell it was a last minute decision - I am a musician (and need my fingernails) but also work a lot with my hands (ruining my fingernails). Had I thought ahead I'd have had a manicure!

I'm not good at descriptions
Thinking over and over again about the situation that happened last night with the boy she has a secret crush on, she sat in the corridor alone using her favorite spell over and over....
Managed to find some Wild Garlic (ramslök if you're wondering what the Swedish name is) in an aptly named location called Wild garlic valley. Though I think I was there a tad too early and need to come back at the start of June instead as there wasn't too much on show. There were plenty of mosquitos though...
Yay! I finally managed to get the comet Neowise in the sky at the same time I was outside and the sky was clear! I think I've been having trouble viewing it with the Honda plant creating a lot of light in the sky where the comet was. Tonight I drove out to Rushsylvania and they have darker skies to the north. This was shot just a few miles outside of Rushsylvania, OH.
Taken with a Pentax 67 400mm f/4
Actually managed a day out with my camera today, and had the chance to tick 2 locations off my ever-growing bucket list. This beautiful old abandoned church really tickled me, with the oak tree growing up through the middle. Unfortunately we were plagued with very harsh sunlight today, so a return trip is on the cards....;-)
Well I finally managed to capture you in my lens Millionaire grins :P Our time zones don't allow us to hang out much my dear friend, but when we do we create awesome memories like this one here :) Thank you so much hun for walking to my path and for being a wonderful friend. I got kinda rusty in my edits coffs, but I ll catch up soon.
I choose a song from Lauv for you and its called breath. Hope u like it
Hugs u xx
Did manage to get the whole Male Bearded Tit in shot, amongst the reeds, but there was quite a lot of vegetation clutter. Thought it worked a bit better as a close crop - helped by the fact that he popped up quite close to me.
Taken in Norfolk.
Managed to snap this one as the sun was emerging over the horizon - the framing was a challenge with so much clutter
I managed to time my visit to the Parkville Nature Sanctuary waterfall perfectly to see the last few moments of the sun.
It's a muddy trail these days and was glad I brought my worst pair of shoes and pants. But if you're in the area, it's well worth the trip.
I didn't manage to catch any falling droplets from the icicles in my previous photo (at least not with any degree of sharpness, since I didn't have my faster 50mm lens on), so here is one from last winter. I doubt we are going to have any more snow or ice this season, so there go my chances of trying this again!
... this is a different crop (a square crop that I love these days) and re-edit of a photo I'd posted last year....
Managed by the National Trust, consider joining, for a photographer or historian its a ticket to some wonderful locations.
I managed to get out early on the latest in a series of misty mornings characterised by a temperature inversion in the Derwent Valley (and, indeed, across a much wider area). I took this shortly after sunrise with mist starting to roll in to envelop Over Owler Tor.
I managed outside for the first time in a long time, I suffered later for it but loved every minute of it. I was a little rusty but within a short period of time felt I was back in my groove again. The weather was very fast changing between sun and rain showers which meant the light was constantly changing minute by minute. However that actually helped me achieve some lovely strong reflections on the water so ended up quite pleased with it. Shot in velvia film simulation.
I managed to capture a really nice full moonrise over the beach huts at Lytham St Annes. I shot the image using a telescope from a distance of around 1/4 mile, which gives the effect of the moon looking much bigger in relation to the huts. If I had gone closer, it would look smaller, so I wanted to take the image from as far as I could to get this effect. This full moon is known as a sturgeon moon due to the fact that these fish tend to be easily caught around this time of year.
This image appeared in The Telegraph and The Sun newspapers
I made a video during the capture of this moonrise where I give out tips on planning & capturing the shot
These are the misty hills overlooking Loch Eck. Severe localised winds can sometimes come down to the loch due to the shape of the hills. The bare patch in the trees just left of centre of the photo looks like a large number of trees have been felled by one such localised effect. There are a few patches like this in the area.
Managed to get out this morning before the snow disappears again. Stayed very local as wasn’t sure how good the roads were. The mist/fog was stuck on the higher ground, so I stayed relatively low and close to home. This was taken as I had just passed through a patch of fog, and spotted this little cluster of trees, with the sun just breaking through to give some diffused light. Liked the animal tracks leading toward the trees as well.
I managed to score one of these on eBay!
The guns are really nice. All of them look like they came straight from the movies and games.
I highly recommend them.
New figs coming soon?
Yes.
Thanks Brickarms!

I managed to scramble early to watch sunrise from the Alabama Hills in California. About 20 minutes before the sun's first rays hit the peaks of the Sierra Nevada, this neat pink/blue combination set in. Over the next 20 minutes they would completely change. There are so many great perspectives from these hills. Both formations are granite, with the foreground hills showing more weathering and soft shaping.
