And Hello Dali!

Cool postcards courtesy of Michael. :)

One of my favourite rooms in Dali's theatre-museum. This is the view of the room from ground level.

I'm still enchanted and mesmerized by my stay at the historic Hotel Fort Des Moines for business travel this week.

This beautiful, old hotel, where former celebrities, foreign royalty and presidents alike have stayed, has captured both my heart and my imagination. I have researched that it originally opened in 1919.

I hope to stay here again on my next trip to Des Moines, for business or for pleasure.

Born Mary Jane West, She began her movie career in 1933. She was brash, some even thought she was coarse. Her one catch phrase was "Come up and see me some time". Comedy was her angle and she could belt ourt a song or two. Portrayed on screen as a man eater that got her into trouble later via her comments in public.

Written on the back in dad's handwriting - "with Mae West & parachute"

basically it's a face made out of furniture, and when you look through this glass (which the camera is looking through) it kind of makes the face go together. it's supposed to be mae west. I don't know who she is.

A star. An icon. An iconic star. Get chills only at looking at her picture.

Mae West as pre-murderious cannibal.

by Catherine Hardwicke. 1993. Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles--part of Four Ladies of Hollywood

Show that you know the power of being a woman with this tee inspired by history's original temptress and her forbidden fruit! As Mae West observed, "When women go wrong, men go right after them!"

Key-book portraits of Mae West.

La définition de la photo est à chier, mais c'est le plus que je pouvais faire avec mon téléphone cellulaire, et cela à bout de bras... ;))

Mae West portrait from Night After Night by Eugene Robert Richee.

This article in a 1929 newspaper has been under the vintage linoleum of a long-empty attic apartment in Warwick, NY. I am sure being beneath oilcloth for decades has helped preserve this paper.

We wound up in Downtown Phoenix on Sunday. Don't ask, long story.

So here on the sidewalk outside the hotel San Carlos they have this walk of stars. Supposedly the famous people that stayed at the San Carlos over the years.

I picked Mae because I always liked her in the Movies with WC Fields.

One of Mae's many quotes

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.

Mae West

Opened in 1927 it was the first Hotel to have Air Conditioning. Also it is said to be haunted Several deaths have occurred at the hotel and I guess that's what makes it haunted.

You can read all about it here if you're so inclined.
