Tucked away along Highway 2 in the Cascades, Deception Falls is a hidden gem of Washington’s wilderness. Crystal-clear water rushes through moss-covered rock and cedar forest, filling the air with the sound of pure mountain energy.

Grazing in Lower Slaughter.

Despite the harshness of its name the Cotswold village takes its name from the Old English term “slough” which means “wet land”.

Situated just 6.4 kilometres (4 miles) south west of Stow-on-the Wold the village has been inhabited for in excess of 1,000 years and today boasts a population of less than 300.

Whilst it is an agricultural area the village relies heavily on tourism for its financial survival.

Peirce Reservoir, located at the lower portion of Kallang Valley, was commissioned in 1912. It was originally known as the Kallang River Reservoir and was renamed Peirce Reservoir in 1922 after Robert Peirce, the Municipal Engineer from 1901 to 1916. The reservoir was again renamed Lower Pierce Reservoir in 1975 after the construction of the new Upper Peirce Reservoir. It was Singapore's second and largest impounding reservoir. The maximum capacity of Pierce Reservoir is 757 million gallons.

Burgruine Mödling

Mödling Castle, also known as Mödling Castle Ruins, is the ruins of a hilltop castle above the Mödlingbach Valley with a view of the town of Mödling to the east and the Hussar Temple to the west.

It is located in the Föhrenberge Nature Park, approx. 1 km behind the drop in the mountains on the edge of the Vienna Basin.

The rocky section of the valley at its foot, through which the Mödlingbach stream flows, is called Klausen.

The Mödling district of Vorderbrühl adjoins it in the direction of the Vienna Woods. From the location of the castle, it was easy to recognise dangers approaching from the east, sometimes via advanced observation posts.

The Mansilla Reservoir is located in the Autonomous Community of La Rioja (Spain), between the towns of Mansilla de la Sierra and Villavelayo. It has a capacity of 68 hm³, occupying an area of 246 hectares. It is located on the Najerilla River, a tributary of the Ebro River. Its waters hide in them the old town of Mansilla de la Sierra, whose church and other buildings are visible when it is low.

“She is free in her wildness, she is a wanderess, a drop of free water. She knows nothing of borders and cares nothing for rules or customs. 'Time' for her isn’t something to fight against. Her life flows clean, with passion, like fresh water.” - Roman Payne

The lower arch of Zion's Double Arch feature at the end of Taylor Creek Trail in the Kolob Canyons section. On the approach to this double arch, the intense saturated colors on the shaded red walls of the sheer cliffs was absolutely stunning.

We must have been there at just the right time of day when the reflected light from the red rocks on the other side of the canyon intensified the colors. By the time we were heading back, this effect was already beginning to fade.

Captured in: Brooklyn Bridge Park - Brooklyn, NY.

Pictured here is an evening view of the Lower Manhattan Skyline shortly after sunset. This image was actually captured a while back, but unfortunately I never got around to processing it. I just recently came across it again while searching for another image, and decided it was time to give it a go.

The shot itself was taken while meeting some friends for photographer / HDR specialist Trey Ratcliff's NYC photowalk. Although we quickly broke off from Trey's group, we had a fun time walking around one of my favorite sections of Brooklyn -- not to mention treated to a rather stunning sunset as well.
