We came across Lower Slaughter just over a year ago as we drove back from a trip to Bath, and immediately fell in love with the place. It is quite simply one of the prettiest villages that I have come across. With its beautiful Cotswold stone cottages, its shallow river, old watermill and low footbridges it reminds me of Bourton on the Water, which lies just over a mile away. The River Eye (seen here) feeds into the River Windrush to the south of Bourton on the Water.

Say hello to Wadjet, the pre-dynastic snake goddess of Lower Egypt - sometimes depicted as half snake, half woman. Wadjet was closely associated in ancient Egyptian religion with the Eye of Ra and the Eye of Horus symbols, each powerful protective deities.

I was fortunate that I had already photted this loco earlier in the day and got an outcome I was very happy with at Seascale, because I was disappointed with the outcome of this one at Sandside.

Increasing wind meant that the shot I wanted here of 68007 working the 10.00 Drigg B.N.F - Shap Summit Quarry was compromised by limited pole height as a result of wind gusts of up to 30mph.

Our first stop on our road trip was Lower Antelope Canyon near Page, Arizona. Last year we went to Upper Antelope Canyon. These slot canyons are amazing. Thousands of years of wind, sand and rain created these canyons. The textures, colors and shapes are just amazing. Compared to the Upper Canyon, this one is much more difficult to manuver through. I wish I could have watched Mike Jones squeezing through some of the tight spots with all his gear!

In August of '97 a flash flood caught tourists in this canyon. Eleven people drowned. Seven were from France, 2 from the U.S., one from England and one from Sweden. I can only imagine how terrifying it must have been.

The Beach Lighthouse (also known as the Lower Light) is a 44-foot (13 metre) tall sandstone lighthouse in Fleetwood, Lancashire, England.

The lighthouse was designed in 1839 by Decimus Burton and Capt H.M. Denham. Burton had been commissioned three years previously by Sir Peter Hesketh Fleetwood as the architect of the new town of Fleetwood. Unusual for a lighthouse, it is in neoclassical style with a square colonnaded base, square tower, and octagonal lantern and gallery.

The Lower Light stands on Fleetwood sea front and was built with its counterpart—the Upper Light, or Pharos Lighthouse—to provide a navigational guide to shipping entering the Wyre estuary. Together the lights provide a leading line when the Pharos Light is directly above that of the Lower Light. Together they provide a range of about 12 nautical miles (22 km). In turn they point to the Wyre Light on the North Wharf Bank, 2 nautical miles (3.7 km) offshore.

Both lighthouses were first illuminated 1 December 1840. Each was run off the town's gas supply, with a single parabolic reflector placed behind the burner; later they were converted to electricity.

The Beach Lighthouse was designated a Grade II listed building by English Heritage on 26 April 1950. The lighthouse is managed by the Port of Fleetwood. Wikipedia

Conditions this day were perfect to capture deep autumn colors. Water flow was a bit low. I guess you can't have everything.

Upper Falls below.

Stopped by Oxford Falls after breakfast. After another wet week, I was keen to see the what the falls looked like with the extra water. I made my way down to the lower falls this time - a bit of a scramble because of the wet ground, but easy enough.

This waterfall is within 10 minutes drive of my house. Amazing how many waterfalls you can find in and around the suburbs if you have a reason to look!

A burst of sunlight hit the trees just as I took this shot of the Lower Rivelin reservoir from the dam wall.

Rivelin Dams are a pair of water storage reservoirs situated in the upper part of the Rivelin Valley, 5 miles (8 km) west of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England. The dams are owned by Yorkshire Water and provide water to 319,000 people as well as compensation water for the River Rivelin. They are named Upper and Lower and fall just within the eastern boundary of the Peak District.

The upper and lower lights at Dovercourt were built in 1863, decomissioned in 1917 and restored to encourage tourism in the 1980s. They acted as leading lights for ships steering towards Harwich harbour.

Yellowstone National Park

Wyoming, USA

During warmer times, the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River and the canyon where the color of the cliffs provide the logic for the name of the park.

Yellowstone was established as the first U.S. national park during 1872 and covers an area of 3,468 square miles which exceeds the combined area of the states of Rhode Island and Delaware. Most of the park is located in Wyoming, but parts are in Idaho and Montana. The park has abundant wildlife and is a wonder of nature.

Evening walk reached the place a little late bit still manage to capture a few shots before hearing the wild boars behind me. Better to leave in a hurry.

A photo from 2012 showing Lower Manhattan and the financial district, as seen from the Empire State Building. The photo was taken in the early morning sun, which casted some nice shadows over many buildings. On the left hand side East River is visible, with its iconic bridges. Hudson River is visible on the right hand side. The Freedom Tower was still under construction in 2012. Some other famous landmarks, such as the Statue of Liberty are also visible.

The panorama was composed from nine different photos, all taken using an Olympus PEN E-PL1 camera and M.Zuiko 45mm f/1.8 lens. Although there are some minor stitching and lighting errors I am quite pleased by this end result. :-)

Navajo Falls is a gem that resulted from the flash flood that tore through Havasu Canyon in August of 2008. Although this flash flood forever changed the landscape of the canyon, it created a fantastic spot for travelers to enjoy in the afternoon and evening when camping in Havasu Canyon

This is an old picture I have never post processed from my last trip in the USA in 2018. Thank you for watching.

Taken on approach into LaGuardia. If you are flying into LaGuardia from the south, try to choose a window seat on the left side of the airplane to give yourself a great opportunity to see the Manhattan skyline on approach into the airport.
