Lovely summer colours at the Lower Gardens, Bournemouth. August 2017.

This is one that has been on my list for years and it didn't disappoint. Coming in at 200 feet wide it's the widest falls that I've seen yet and the first vertical block. From here it's hard to tell that it drops 43 feet, but the roar lets you know it. :-) The emerald water is caused by the Lewis river being born of an inactive glacier (from Mount Adams) so it doesn't have the silt like White or Puyallup and it is just stunning to see. I was here on a Friday and I kid you not, I didn't see a soul until I got back down here after hiking up to the other two drops. It was a bit spooky. :-)

The southbound "Airport Train" to Seward crosses the Trail River bridge along the Seward Highway at Crown Point. Four peaks of the Chugach Range dominate the distant horizon above the still waters of Lower Trail Lake.

With a splash of fall color among the evergreen, CP Rail train No. 570 exits the Lower Spiral Tunnel at Yoho, British Columbia.

Lower Largo is a small coastal village in the East Neuk of Fife.

The tide is low in the harbour and active fishing from here ended a long time ago, deep-sea fishing from Lower Largo actually ceased way back in 1909.

The old railway viaduct is testament to a different era when steam trains used to pass through here.

Yellowstone's Lower Falls. If you look at this photo you can see the Brink of the Falls platform just to the right of the falls. I did the hike down there, probably for the last time. It has a very steep grade, but if you have never done it, you should do it at least once.

Rims are kinda meh, but it works overall.

Here is Lower Falls at the Lewis River. This falls did not require a hike to view it like Upper Falls that I previously posted, it is right at the campground.

Lower Silver Falls is located in Michigan's Baraga county on the Silver River. The Silver River has many drops, and they are lumped together into the Lower, Middle and Upper Falls. The Lower Falls are very easy to visit.

The falls consists of two chutes where the river is constricted to a narrow channel. The second is the larger of the two, and the river drops about 15 feet in a thirty foot stretch while taking a turn.

Last week's rain brought this little waterfall back to life

Lower Slaughter a fascinating name, which derives from 'miry place'. The link is the tiny River Eye, tributary to the nearby river Windrush. Lower Slaughter is just off the Fosse Way. The village is considered to be one of the prettiest in the area and is well photographed and the village has been used for filming and productions.

Ever mesmerizing YELLOW STONE. Pray it comes back with more BEAUTY as it is currently flooded ...

This afternoon's rain had the local creeks flowing well - even the ones that normally are just a gentle trickle

Not the most inviting of village names but certainly one of the most attractive locations in the Cotswolds. It even manages to look cosy in Winter (must go back in Summer ..)

Financial District Lower Manhattan, NYC :-)

The fortifications of the town were built after the Mongol Invasion. It had four gates, which opened to the south, west, north and northeast. The plain of the town slightly slopes north, so the southern gate, which was located on the highest point, was called Upper Gate, while the northeastern gate, which was located on the lowest point, was called Lower Gate. The walls were defended by wide moats.

The trade road coming from the central regions of Hungary left the town towards Poland through the Lower Gate. From the town gate a little wooden bridge led to a half-round barbican, which still stands, surrounded by moats. From the barbican a drawbridge led across the moat. After the fortifications of the town lost their significance, the wooden bridges over the moats were demolished and a new stone bridge was raised with two 5-metres wide arches in 1821. A similar stone bridge was built to connect the barbican with the town but it had only one arch.
