Seagulls perched on the remnants of an old pier, the only visual remains of a once booming, Salmon canning industry.

Dating back to the turn of the century.

Washington (State)--Point Roberts

Well over a hundred years ago, this would have been a busy fishing port.

Today, we can only imagine the sights of the heavily loaded fishing vessels tied up alongside this pier, and the hardworking employees bustling the catch, up and down the pier.

On the horizon you will have left USA waters and entered Canadian waters, BC Canada

Point Roberts is a pene-exclave of the United States on the southernmost tip of the Tsawwassen Peninsula, south of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The area, which had a population of 1,314 at the 2010 census, is reached by land by traveling 25 mi (40 km) through Canada. It is a census-designated place (CDP) in Whatcom County, Washington with a post office, and a ZIP Code of 98281. Direct sea and air connections with the U.S. are available across Boundary Bay.

Point Roberts was created when the United Kingdom and the United States settled the Pacific Northwest American-Canadian border dispute in the mid-19th century with the Oregon Treaty. Both parties agreed the 49th parallel would delineate both countries' territories, but they overlooked the small area that incorporates Point Roberts (south of the 49th parallel). Questions about ceding the territory to the United Kingdom and later to Canada have been raised since its creation but its status has remained unchanged.

A long exposure shot of the Millennium Bridge and St Paul's, taken last Saturday, deep in the night, from the South Bank. The lights of a boat created the red trails that cross the frame.

The full moon is just above and just outside the frame here and shining down its glorious light onto Lake Michigan's surface. 9:06 pm and already dark, I handheld this shot at 1/2 of a second, leaning against a tree trunk for some support.

It was a warm and summery Friday evening, so many people decided to walk the North Pier all the way out to the lighthouse, the moon lighting their pathway. If you look closely you can also see two people fishing.

Four fishing boats and their lights can be seen way out on the horizon. Sometimes they stay out all night!

As night fell, several geese decided to sleep on the ice. One stood on one leg and ate some snow. Another glided on the water through the dock light's reflection.

One of my favorite color combinations is yellow and blue... It just works so well and is pleasing to the eye.

As the world slumbers in darkness, I set out to create a nocturnal photo, weaving luminescent trails with my trusty eBay LED quality light. With each carefully choreographed movement, a captivating signature emerges, illuminating the night with an ethereal glow. The long exposure captures the dance of light and darkness, crafting a mesmerizing painting that seems to defy the limits of time. Behold the magic of light painting, an art form that embraces the darkness to reveal its own signature of brilliance.

If you cannot understand what int the world is the background or this image, to put you into the perspective, on the left bottom part of the photo, you can see a Dalmatian boat moored to a cement dock.

Brighton's fallen West pier, it opened in 1870.

I have never photographed in such windy conditions! All credit to my tripod, I resembled Batwomen trying to act as a windbreak!!! A 1/4 second exposure, taken when it was almost dark. It's checkered history can be found here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Pier
