No boots! Last walk I put her boots on and we fought the whole walk. She showed how much she enjoyed going without them on this one.

You can see my image and back scene in her eyes, not planned, it's hard for me to get a photo of her

A silent afternoon in the "leersumse plassen area" only the sound of a few geese, and a woodpecker in the distance.....

Loving kindness is the path to happiness.

Anger, hatred, misogyny, bigotry, and intolerance towards others never brings true happiness for yourself or others.

Mt Rainier Scenic Railroad Santa train in Elbe, WA. The train was running this day with this 1929 American Locomotive Company tank 2-8-2 rod locomotive on this end and an EMD F9 on the other end of the train. The locomotive has uncoupled from the train and pulled forward so it doesn't block the crossing to the parking lot while in the station and at this time is getting the loving care she needs to keep running smoothly(being oiled). This was shot in color and converted to sepia. DSC_0165-HDR-1-1-2

I know most of us in the Nordic countries and other cold parts of the world quite dislike all the snow. Having to scrape the windows on the car, shovel snow to be able to walk in and out of your house. Getting numb hands if out taking pictures too long :-) But since I moved to Scotland, and coming back to Sweden during winter is rather nice! Love the winter wonderland at the moment. So I'll enjoy the days here for a another while, before heading home to Scotland :)

At the end of my parent's last visit my father tells me he purchased a 150-600mm zoom lens; would I like him to leave it with me to play with so I can see what it can do? YES PLEASE.

It's been a fun challenge to find spots to put the 600mm to use. First up: the Harrisburg fuel pad. Here NS 14G gets underway after topping off the two D9-44CWs, pulling an eclectic mix of coil cars.

When its 3:40 in the morning and you wake up with Peter Gabriel’s Solsbury Hill lyrics going “Boom-boom-boom” in your head, you might as well call it a night and rise. Since its release in 1977, it has been one of my favorite songs. Even though I did not truly understand his words in my youth, in my soul I understood his message. A message of change, decision and for me, divine voices of direction.

As we transition from the end of winter to the beginning of spring, this is truly my favorite time of the year as like the trees, I start to truly feel and look alive. Yesterday, our area experienced a new record high temperature for the 12th of March of 80 degrees. The beauty of the day propelled me to the backyard for winter clean up and spring preparation. All the bending and twisting, on and off my knee’s aerobics coupled with helping my son put together a swing set and soccer goal for the grandkids will certainly make this another Tylenol day for this old man!

Pulling up my photo archives this morning while drinking coffee and listening to, you guessed it…Solsbury Hill, I came across this shot taken on 18 February of 2021 of a Northern Flicker resting at Muscatatuck NWR. If I remember correctly, when I took this shot, it was early morning and around 6 degrees. Representing well the possible temperature swings this time of year. Although I love certain aspects of winter, it has always made me feel stuck while spring truly releases my soul…and often strains my back when I forget my age, but it is still my favorite time of the year!

The classic rendering of the Nikon D200 with it's organic CCD sensor, known for it's micro contrast, skin tones and filmic look.

Shot with the vintage Nikon 17-55mm f2.8 the first DX professional lens from Nikon, still a beast of a lens!
