Looks like someone has been very busy to sew this leaf together. When you look closely you can see the stitches!

Looks like this guy drew the longest straw. Not so lucky in other ways though. He has a nasty scar above the right front leg. Possibly from another antelope's hoof. The black patch at the base of the jaw is an indication it is a male. Smallish horns though, so I'm assuming it is young.

Maybe the bird doesn't like photographers.

How about something yellow for Tuesday....

Another sight I simply couldn't walk by without lifting my camera. The heritage museum - replica of old Danish town and one of its recreated buildings - this one looks like a bike shop.

Entro, sin hacer ruido; dejo mi abrigo gris;

Voy a besar su rostro rosado y halagüeño." ~Ruben Darío

Oh no, it looks like the squirrels, woodpeckers, wrens and bluebirds ate all of the peanuts. What now? It's time to buzz the clicking monsters head to let her know we are displeased and expect better service.

Oh what fussy little titmice. Buzz my head, they did! Then it was off to the palm stump to squawk. They took turns doing this until I realized what they wanted. Dunbar the resident mockingbird and boss of the yard doesn't buzz my head when the food is running low. He goes to the living room window and pecks on it until he gets my attention, then he follows me around the feeding stations to make sure I am doing a good job.

The little tufties seemed to simmer down when their demands were met. Perhaps they are becoming a bit spoiled, but they did get their message across. The tufties ate some peanuts and left happy.

Swallowtails are notoriously challenging to shoot because they're in almost constant fluttering motion. But their four wing parts actually move separately, with the forward wings moving the most. So it you focus on the back wings it's possible to capture both their gorgeous color and the lovely flow of their forward wings. This is an Eastern Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes asterius).

Yes, this is the largest lake in Italy, Lago di Garda, with crystal clear waters and with this beautiful tone that enchants tourists from all over the world.

It extends over an area of about 370 km² at an altitude of 65 meters above sea level. The lake has five islands, and several cities around it, as well as Lake Como.

Sirmione, the so-called Pearl of Garda, is a charming town that draws attention for its thermal waters and Roman ruins. But it also has freshwater beaches bathed by the famous lake and a historic center with monuments that so enchant us in Italy.

Special mention has to be made for the Castle Scaligero, built between the 13th and 14th centuries and very well preserved. The castle has a 37-meter high tower that provides one of the best views of the landscape.

“They ran down every lead,

They repeated every test,

They checked out all the data on their lists,

And then the alien anthropologists,

Admitted they were still perplexed,

But on eliminating every other reason,

For our sad demise,

They logged the only explanation left,

This species has amused itself to death.”

This airmail beacon had an acetylene powered flashing light that helped pilots keep on course. It was built in the mid-1920's and operated until early 1930's.

The beacon is on the part of Buffalo Valley called "alkali lake" (USGS 7.5' topo "Buffalo Springs NE"). Except for the missing light, it looks like it could still be used.
