I like to use dried mandarin peel in cooking - they add a certain ‘je ne sais quoi” to slow cooked dishes like casseroles and tagines.
The notion of a knot used as a reminder may have originated from the custom of tying a knot in the handkerchief. In days gone by, gentlemen would tie a knot in their handkerchief to remind themselves there is something that should not be forgotten. Whenever they reached for their handkerchief, they would be reminded.
The theme for “Looking Close on Friday” for the 20th of May is “knots”. At first I was a bit hard pressed to think of an interesting knot, then I remembered this old notion. I hope you like my choice for the theme this week, and that it makes you smile.

Sometimes camouflage is not everything – especially if you can enjoy the last rays of sunshine in peace ;-) Common fly on lavender flower. Garnished with various flowers and leaves from the regional garden.

Manchmal ist Tarnung ja auch nicht alles – besonders, wenn man so in Ruhe die letzten Sonnenstrahlen genießen kann ;-) Gewöhnliche Fliege an Lavendelblüte. Garniert mit diversen Blüten und Blättern aus dem regionalen Garten.

As we have three grandkids who always need a little treat occasionally. We appear to have built up a reserve stash of these little packets and bars. This whole collection would fit on a paperback book so you can estimate their sizes.
In the shot are Cadbury’s Buttons, Curly-Wurly Bar and Freddo as well as Rowntrees Skittles and Fudge together with a tiny Wham Bar!
