The theme for “Looking Close on Friday” for the 21st of January is “bubbles”. And what could be more deliciously fabulous than deliciously crisp French champagne in a champagne coupe? The champagne used for this photo was Billecart-Salmon Brut Reserve from France, and the glass is a fine 1920s crystal champagne coupe, one of a pair, given to my partner and I as a gift by friends on our anniversary. I do hope that you like my choice, and that this photograph makes you smile! Cheers!
I like hydrangea, especially the Hydrangea Macrophylla shown here. The colours are striking and are the natural colours without any additives added to the soil around to force unnatural change in appearance - I hate this practice!
This one is just starting to burst open with its explosion of intense, deep red. The white ones I have come out a little later.

Saved by the rain :) finally we got some rain, not nearly enough but it is better than nothing.

For Looking close….on Friday! Group. Theme - White and wonderful.
These begonia in my garden are just starting to fade and will be dead soon but hopefully replaced by fresh blooms in a few weeks!
Injured my ribs at the moment so too painful to do gardening and pick up dead leaves and petals! Forgive me for the dead, brown bits on the ground!
I was hoping to find a red leaf and found them in my own garden.
Happy looking close....on Friday!

The theme for “Looking Close on Friday” for the 6th of May is “flower buds”. Luckily for me, the day I looked at the new theme, it was a lovely, sunny day. This meant that I was able to walk out into my rear garden over to the “Plantation Pink” Camelia Sasanqua in my camellia hedge which is having its best show of flowers thus far. The hedge is covered in many beautifully formed pink flowers and dainty buds. I just had to select the one I liked best. I hope you like my choice for the theme this week, and that it makes you smile.
Vigorous and fast growing, Camellia Sasanqua “Plantation Pink” is an upright evergreen shrub with masses of large sweetly scented single to semi-double, soft pink flowers and a wonderful centre of golden yellow stamens. The blooms occur over quite a long period between March and June in the Southern Hemisphere which makes them very popular. They are often used for hedges or to cover walls.
