#Lookingclose...onFriday! #BokehinB&W

The theme for “Looking Close on Friday” for the 1st of April is “a single flower”. Just by chance, the day the theme was announced, I walked out into my rear garden and saw that the first “Plantation Pink” Camelia Sasanqua in my hedge had burst forth. The hedge is covered in buds, but only one single flower, so it seemed appropriate to select it for this week’s theme. I hope you like my choice for the theme this week, and that it makes you smile.

Vigorous and fast growing, Camellia Sasanqua “Plantation Pink” is an upright evergreen shrub with masses of large sweetly scented single to semi-double, soft pink flowers and a wonderful centre of golden yellow stamens. The blooms occur over quite a long period between March and June in the Southern Hemisphere which makes them very popular. They are often used for hedges or to cover walls.

Close-up of bark from a cherry tree in my garden. Looking at it in detail makes it look as though it is the surface of some alien planet!

The mysterious runaways, always missing! It's a rare sight to see so many of them in one place! Whenever you need one they have just disappeared in some bags, rucksacks, pockets 😉

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful then the risk it took to blossom.

I found this leaf during a walk by the lake and took it home for the LookingCloseOnFriday shooting (theme : structures in flora) because I liked its unusual purple hues. I hope you like it, too.

Two little Hydrangea flowers in a blue glass filled with some water, light from the side. For 'LookingCloseOnFriday 's theme "Blue".

As it looks like a tiny waterfall, only due to the light and being an illusion, I thought it also perfect for the SoS theme of 'Let it flow'.

HSoS for all participants.

I like hydrangea, especially the Hydrangea Macrophylla shown here. The colours are striking and are the natural colours without any additives added to the soil around to force unnatural change in appearance - I hate this practice!

This one is just starting to burst open with its explosion of intense, deep red. The white ones I have come out a little later.

I‘ve no idea how these flowers with ten petals are called, but they are absolutely tiny - maybe around 8 mm (1/3 inch) in diameter and I like how they look.
