A Peaceful and Merry Christmas to all Flickr friends. And may the New Year be a good one for you.

Thank you all for your time to look at my stream, for your favs and nice and supporting comments. And most of all for the loads of awesome pictures that you share here, for the stories and information that you add, for everything that I have learned with your help since I have been a guest here on Flickr.

THANK YOU.

For the theme Seashells. It is a shell from my very small collection of shells I have found on various beaches in Canada. The shell has to be unique in some way in order for me to take it home. I think most shells should be left on the beaches. But today, when I can’t go to the beach, I was happy to create this scene on my back deck. I placed the shell on a printed picture of flowing water that I took a few years ago. There were some orange fall reflections in the water and this background seemed to complement the colours of the shell. Happy Friday everyone!

Today I am entering this moth that has been on our front porch wall for days now. I submitted this for the theme Small Animals with Wings for Looking Close …on Friday!

Painting roses is a lot of work :)

The world reflected in a silver ball.

The theme for “Looking Close on Friday” for the 25th of March is “pencil sharpener”. Luckily this was an easy theme for me, as I am an artist amongst many other things, so I always have an array of pencils and sharpeners within easy reach. So, here we have one of my silver pencil sharpeners hedged in by sixteen of my Derwent studio pencils. I hope you like my choice for the theme this week, and that it makes you smile.

When I was twelve, I entered a drawing competition, and I won my first set of Derwent pencils: a tin case of 36. As a designer and illustrator as well as a photographer, over the years I have acquired several different sets of Derwents for different purposes, including my beloved Derwent Studio Pencil set of 72 which I use predominantly these days for designing clothes.

Derwent, or the Derwent Cumberland Pencil Company, is a manufacturer of pencils and other stationery. The business began in 1832 in Cumberland under the name of Banks, Son & Co. The company was bought by Acco UK and became a brand of their product range.

Not all a spirals are circular in shape and Turtle Spirals are an excepted mathematical shape, a type of square spiral. Look carefully and you can see the spiral take shape from the centre of the mat.

Wicker-made objects are popular tourist buys in many African countries. When we moved back to the U.K. from Kenya in 1990, we brought with us several mats that we had been using in our house there. That means that this mat is well over 41yrs old but still looks like it was bought last week!

Wicker is a very resilient, sturdy and pliable natural plant material and the most common source in Kenya is banana leaves but it can be made from many parts of plants.

The spiral pattern that is used to make them is very common!

Two tiny pink flowers,I put them on top of one of the peonies.

I added Kim Klassen's stamps, fringe-1 and fringe-2.

These stamps are on the edges of the photo so the flowers jump out more.

The theme for Looking Close…on Friday is Clothes Pegs. These are clothes clips that can hook over a railing, fence, or nail, so a clothesline is unnecessary. 💙❓❓
