This one I am posting for the theme “ bugs & co”. I was trying to follow the toad’s example and just chill on my back deck , when this oil beetle flew onto the deck post across from me. I had seen these insects a few times over the years. So I knew not to touch him. Another name for this guy is a Blister Beetle. That is due to the caustic chemical he secretes that can blister your skin on contact. He is a beautiful shade of blue but that’s where my admiration for him stops. This guy was about an inch long. We quickly and carefully got rid of him from the deck.
