Katrina and Monte looking out into the back yard where the squirrels play. This is at the sliding glass door onto the porch. Here the porch boards look like Venetian blinds at the window, but it's an illusion...

“There were once two sisters

who were not afriad of the dark

because the dark was full of the other's voice

across the room,

because even when the night was thick

and starless

they walked home together from the river

seeing who could last the longest

without turning on her flashlight,

not afraid

because sometimes in the pitch of night

they'd lie on their backs

in the middle of the path

and look up until the stars came back

and when they did,

they'd reach their arms up to touch them

and did.”

So the weather forecasters said it would snow today, and they were correct!

Woke up at 7am and looked outside and there was some snow flitting around in the wind but nothing had settled. Looked out of the window again at 8am and the scenery had changed...snow everywhere! This photo was taken shortly before 10am and its still coming down with no sign of it stopping anytime soon!

Fortunately I'm working from home today and took this photos whilst sat in the 'study' beavering away...well, kind of beavering away ;-)

Photo was taken on my iPhone and processed using Snapseed.

i love walking at night and looking into the windows of peoples homes. i like to see how they decorate, and what they are doing :) i don't stand and stare or anything, but i always look when i walk by......

a week of rain is gonna make this 365 very difficult.

Unfortunately its a bit murky and streaky looking through the glass panels of the Cloud Forest Dome but I thought it an interesting angle to view the Supertrees Grove in Singapore's Gardens By The Bay.

I have seen the moment of my greatness flicker,

I have seen the eternal Footman hold my coat, and snicker,

And in short, I was afraid.

What's on her mind? How much snow is coming? Whether she will arrive home safely tonight? If she is dressed warmly enough? Can she just go through the doors and start playing in the snow? Why her office doesn't have a window? Is it time for lunch yet?

Lake Ullswater, the Lake District, UK

June 09

Lake Ullswater is renowned in Arthurian legend as the home of 'the Lady of the Lake', look it up if you (unbelievably) have know idea of the story.

It may not be the biggest in the whole of the Lake District, but it's certainly our favourite, and without all the tourist trappings of Lake Windermere.

My window sill on a dreary winter day.

For the obvious reason of the placement of the arms, this reminds me of a cowboy about to have a shoot out.

*These four photos are various views of a single capital - does anyone know what it represents?*

Update: Thanks to Peter (see comment here) for solving the mystery. This is probably Balaam and the Angel (on the left here). People in building still unsolved, but may be Noah's Ark.

Scarborough has a population of around 50,000 and is the largest holiday resort on the Yorkshire coast. Traditional economies of fishing and tourism are now being supplemented by a growing creative and digital industry.

In 2009 Scarborough won the award for the most creative and inspiring entrepreneurship initiative in Europe, following on from winning the most enterprising town in Britain in 2008.

But the reason we like to visit is the sheer variety, from seaside attractions to calm sea views like this one where your soul gets a chance to recharge.

I kept the tones and colours fairly muted and atmospheric to convey quietness and calm.
