A very longterm resident down this road, the area surrounding it has seen some incredibly rapid gentrification in the past few years, yet this seems to be about as opposite as you can get. Not quite sure how long its been sporting no bumpers for, the entire inside (aside form the drivers seat) was being used to store spares of some sort as well, so I would imagine this could belong to someone who runs a small garage. Long may this continue going.
One of my favorite longterm projects was documenting the transition of the Murgtalbahn from a mountain branch line to an electrified line for light-rail EMUs and standard electric locomotives.
Beginning in 1997 I followed the process until the completion 2004, right before I relocated.
On April 2, 2001 the weather forecast was good enough to spend a day along the line, making good use of new angles made possible by the ongoing brush and tree cutting. This was needed to clear the right of way to work on the foundations of the caternary posts which had been erected already way down the line.
The days of the old semaphore signals were counted as were the days of diesel-hauled passenger trains from Karlsruhe to Freudenstadt.
The dieselhydraulic 218 298 had one of the hourly passenger trains in tow as it was ducking under a picturesque road bridge (built from granite, quarried locally). The minute before the train had left Forbach station which was already under heavy reconstruction.
It's all nice and clean, just like a model railway.

Advertising on the side of a building that used to sell Mexican imports. I thank we can all agree this was not a business plan with longterm possibilities.

A very photogenic waterfall in the Allgäu in southern Germany. I have visited it many times, but this is the first time I have been able to photograph it in this winter mood...
Light Art Performance Photography (LAPP) - only one long exposure, no Photoshop compositing. Made with Canon EOS 6D and Zeiss Distagon T*18mm/f3.5 ZF (plus NIK/EF-Adapter), Walther Pro XL3000r, Led Lenser M3R and some pyro stuff.
how ironic is this registration?! QE (Quantitative Easing) - is this image a precursor to how all this money printing will end up??!!

Preserved Northern General AEC Routemaster 2099 PCN762 is pictured in Gateshead this afternoon working the duplicate 15:13 Go North East "The Angel" service 21 to Chester-le-Street.
2099 is on longterm loan to Go North East from the North East Bus Preservation Trust and is one of several duplicate school time workings operating around the NE to alleviate capacity issues. Under the 20 days per annum PSVAR rule, non-PSVAR vehicles like this can operate on normal stagecarriage service during this period.

As always - only one longterm shot, no Photoshop trickery!
Made with pyro material, LED Lenser P5R.2 and a special X21 UV (a black light conversion of the older X21, made by ourselves!)
Obviously, she is balancing on the trunk .. Not so obvious, we are balancing her along her incurable bowel illness versus longterm damaging medicine. The illness seems to be stabilised, but the medication needs to be cut down, whatever that means for the symptoms to reappear.
Milky Way high above the Lünersee. It was a special experience to wait alone on a 2400m high peak for the Milky Way. I enjoyed the time incredibly and will certainly never forget it. The following descent was in the first part again a little bit exciting, but in the end well to master. Only I could not fall asleep later in the hut for a long time...
found a couple of MAX hiding out in the night, trying not to catch the Corona Virus!!
I reckon if this LCC survives, and the MAX flies again, they'll be getting rid of the billboard titles under the name!!
Typical morning at sunrise along the equator in the Galapagos Archipelago. If you're going to see the Galapagos Islands, a multi-day boat excursion is the only way. My eight days on a cabin cruiser (motorized boat smaller than an ocean liner but bigger than a row boat) convinced me I'm not much of a longterm boat person. I came to look forward to shore excursions not only for the chance to see and photograph wildlife closeup, but also to stand without rocking back and forth.
Photographically speaking, the Galapagos islands are a phenomenal chance to do photography. The wildlife are not spooked by humans because they have been protected for generations by the government of Ecuador and they have not learned to fear people. So I was able to extremely close to birds, iguanas, tortoises and other wildlife, which was great because my longest lens was a 100-400 mm. With a 1.4x teleconverter attached, that gave me a magnification equal to a 560 mm lens. Far more challenging in terms of photographing galapagos was the incredible humidity, which caused my lenses to fog up routinely. I always had to give my camera equipment time to adjust to the humidity if I went from out air-conditioned boat cabin to the outdoors.
Galapagos is all about the diversity of wildlife that live on these remote equatorial islands. It really is a must-see for anyone who admires the diversity of life on earth.

A nice surprise; I'd practically forgot about this later shaped Prairie - Spotted a year ago; this has had a change of ownership last week! 12/07/2018.
I believe at the time of the photo it had been in fairly longterm ownership, but wasn't a single owner car.
Tall aspen trees with white trunks and autumn leaves, Eastern Sierra Nevada.
Returning to the same locations has its pluses and minuses. I suppose that one negative could be the danger that the subject becomes overly familiar — there is an argument that it would be a better use of one’s time to head off to new places. But there are a lot more positives in my experience. Beyond the excitement of new places there is the longterm process of becoming more intimately familiar with a place you thought you knew. I find new subjects on every return visit to the Eastern Sierra, despite having photographed there for decades.
This photograph (along with a few others from the same location) is a case in point. I had passed this spot for years, barely stopping, and to the best of my knowledge not photographing it. On this visit I saw a lovely little creek nearby that I had overlooked, and once I started paying attention to its surroundings I became aware of these beautiful trees.

No history, all there I know is there is a castle in Belgium somewhere with rotting Alfa Romeos sitting in a garage underneath it. The light wasn't the best to start off with (probably something to do with early morning explores of course!!)
A spot of light painting helped with exposure times. An amazing place to see and photograph.
