Came across this interesting lock and key at an antique show this weekend.

A locked mausoleum door at the Calvary Cemetery just outside of Pittsburgh's Millvale neighborhood.

For Comp Corner- under lock & key...

My first thoughts for this image were similar to certain other mucky-minded perverts in the group :-) But being unable to get my hands on and think of a 'nice' way to present a Chastity belt I found this Garter with the handcuffs and made do!

The original garter is Ivory but the shot works much better in Mono. It took me a long time to get the tone right here and don't talk to me about the 'Greys'... I went through 50 of 'em to get this particular shade! ;-))

I was recently wandering the museums at the Tower of London and some of the chastity belts there were horrific! No amount of prettifying would have made a decent image! :-)) None the less it was something our Knights of Old were keen to keep safely under Lock and Key!

With thanks to Bromley Brides for the 5 minute loan.

Taught my friend Chuck how to use his new(old) table top press. He got a good machine, and after we leveled the platen, installed new rollers and oiled it up, we got some really nice prints! He was so happy and excited. I love it!

Found this treasure just a mile from us on the old Suck place. Pretty sure this old outhouse won't be happening again! Check out the interesting lock (below) - looks like it even had a place for a real key! Was that to lock someone in? Hmmmm?

Beyond Layers: Day 10: A Painterly Effect

Kelly is a nut for trying this. Seriously. That diving board was atrocious.

The tour group (minus Kristin, who was taking the picture) poses for a Florida photo op. Not quite as fierce as the other group shot which I took (and in which Kristin makes a face), but still, not even the most hardest core bands can always be killer.

Printed on back: "Tarjeta Postal"

Hmmm....I don't get it! LOL

Lock And Key: Rush, Hold Your Fire

This power song came in off the album Hold Your Fire, Rush’s last album that was driven strongly by keyboards and technology. After this album Rush began a strong career path out of that world and back to real instruments with a real rock sound. Best decision they ever made (next to hiring Neil Peart after their first album).

That being said, so many of the songs on the album are still great and some of my favorites. This song in particular has very moving and powerful moments in the song that just kind of pull you in, and the words have so many layers of brilliance to them on their own. I posed the question to myself what is the killer instinct that we do keep under lock and key? We all have one- some more than others… let’s just hope we can keep that side of ourselves subdued!

*** Artist Notes ***

Relic key and mini journal where one might keep something under lock and key.

Lyrics:

I don't want to face the killer instinct

Face it in you or me

We carry a sensitive cargo

Below the waterline

Ticking like a time bomb

With a primitive design

Behind the finer feelings

This civilized veneer

The heart of a lonely hunter

Guards a dangerous frontier

The balance can sometimes fail

Strong emotions can tip the scale

Don't want to silence a desperate voice

For the sake of security

No one wants to make a terrible choice

On the price of being free

I don't want to face the killer instinct

Face it in you or me

So we keep it under lock and key.

It's not a matter of mercy

It's not a matter of laws

Plenty of people will kill you

For some fanatical cause

It's not a matter of conscience

A search for probable cause

It's just a matter of instinct

A matter of fatal flaws

No reward for resistance

No assistance, no applause.

Don't want to silence a desperate voice

For the sake of security

No one wants to make a terrible choice

On the price of being free

I don't want to face the killer instinct

Face it in you or me

So we keep it under lock and key.

We don't want to be victims

On that we all agree

So we lock up the killer instinct

And throw away the key.

Happiness note cards. I LOVE these. So pretty! Printed in an iridescent gray on scarlet paper using antique lead type and a hand carved antique woodcut. Sadly, this cut too is on its way out. The veneer is brittle and cracking and becomes weaker every time I use it. I will no longer survive anything more than a kiss impression, but is so worn that light impressions are very uneven. it will be retired after one more run I think.

What else do you do the day before you're leaving the best vacation of your life? Jump off of a ledge with two very bad influences.

These boys are just about the toughest crowd around. Can't you tell?

PJ attempts a frontward spiral flip maneuver. He pulls it off flawlessly. Maybe. Nice hair though!
