Well, i`m one of these people who suffer extremely under the reality of getting older. I often sit at home, listen to my records from the 70`s and 80`s thinking about this time with tears in my eyes. Thinking about all of childhood and teen heros. All the lovely movies, all these new inventions we got in these time. About my dad who passed away 2 years ago and my 84 years old mom. Than i realize that my childhood is over and i`m an older man. I wanna thank all of these brilliant heroes of my life "like Mark" for so so many lovely moments in my life. For moments full of tears and moments full of joy....thank you so so much...you/they are my life...for ever and always. <3 Love from germany
My dearest Mark Knopfler, your voice, your poems and especially your music have always soothed my soul everyday since 1979 and they always will. I wish you good health and wish you strength for years ahead. With all my love, Haideh Zand, Tehran, Iran.

Summary
Project status: under construction
Region: mid Wales
End date: late 2018
Employers agent: Corderoy
ECI contractors: Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd
Designer: Atkins, TACP
Why we are doing it
The junction joining the A483 and A489 is regularly congested. We believe that industrial development of Newtown is hampered by congestion issues, and so improving transport will help industry grow in this area.
Current progress
We announced our preferred route for a bypass in October 2010. We modified this route in March 2014 following consultation. In February 2016, following a public local inquiry we announced that we will build the bypass.
Our contractors are currently designing and constructing the bypass. We began site clearance in March 2016 and have started earthworks for the western roundabout on Llanidloes Road. We are also building a temporary road diversion on Upper Dolfor Road to allow us to build one of the larger bridges for the new bypass.
The plan
We are building a 6.53km bypass to the south of Newtown. The route will:
begin at a new roundabout on the A489 Llanidloes Road west of Newtown
cross over Mochdre Brook and run south of the Mochdre Industrial Estate
connect to the A483 Dolfor Road at a roundabout, which would also link to the Mochdre Industrial Estate
cross agricultural land to the A489 Kerry Road junction
continue south of the Vastre and Dyffryn Industrial Estates then cross the Cambrian railway
end at a roundabout on the A483 Pool Road east of Newtown.
The new road will have a 2+1 carriageway allowing safe overtaking in both directions.
The scheme also includes some de-trunking works along Pool Road and New Road in Newtown.
The design will endeavour to avoid or minimise impact from the following constraints:
relict landslip areas
major utilities
known and predicted ecology
known and predicted archaeology
flood risk areas
air quality management area
Cambrian railway
rights of way and accessibility issues.
How we consulted
Our consultants held a public consultation exhibition between 8 and 10 September 2009 in Newtown.
Proposals incorporating the 2010 preferred route plus alternative options were displayed at a public information exhibition on 9 July 2013, which resulted in a modified preferred route being announced in March 2014. This route was viewed by over 600 people at another public information exhibition on 8 April 2014.
In June/July 2015 there was a public local inquiry.
Alun Griffiths have a site office on the the A483 Dolfor Road, open during normal business hours. Directions to Newtown Bypass Site offices are available below. For appointments outside of these hours you can contact the project manager Nick Cleary or on 01686 806682. For further information on the scheme contact Alun Griffiths (Contracting) Ltd.

There will be local elections in March, so the political parties come out and hand out leaflets to the people who come to the market. Somewhere in this melee there is the national leader of the christian-democratic party.
