The NS local works what little is left of the Southern’s W Line, which once saw multiple weekly coal trains coming off the Saluda grade. This train works Milliken and an asphalt plant near Inman, SC on most weekdays.

This time of year the local apple ranches sell their "home grown" honey. This display was taken in August at the Avila Valley Barn. I recently went back to see if I could get a better capture, but they had replaced this display with jars of honey with big labels and you couldn't see the nice glow from the lights.

We all piled into our car and headed up over Galena Pass to look out over the Sawtooths on this day. The smoke from the Halstead Fire was blowing east and not obscuring the peaks in any way, so I had to get the Oregonians and my husband up to see the view. We passed this awesome orange bus on the way, and as I was readying my shot, I realized it was the same bus I saw in Stanley in July. Must be a local.

The last snowfall covered our parking lot and the neighbourhood. It is gone now but more snow has started again. It will be like this for a while until it stays longer when it is really cold as expected for next week. You can see the snowflakes even in this shot as they slowly came down.

Out on a walk this morning Just on the edge of town and discovered a train tunnel. I never knew this was there.

Usually the territory of geeps, the Superior transfer sometimes ends up getting some larger power based on how many cars go one way or the other. Seen here getting ready to cross over 28th street, CP 8729 and KCSM 4552 prepare to take the curve into Stinson Yard with it’s short train for the yard power to break down and sort. In the background stands the old Peavy grain elevator, sporting a large hole in the side thanks to an explosion it had some time before this, which thankfully still sports the old Peavy name despite it today being owned by Viterra.

It still has the look of Conrail, but this caboose shot was taken in 2000 right after Norfolk Southern had taken over.

Once the rain had passed from Castle Stalker a local family arrived at the shore, got into their little rowing boat and proceeded to row out to the castle. Lets hope they made it.
