Remember when you went to a local TV shop to purchase an RCA, Zenith, or Motorola? Do you remember that you even knew the name of the guy that owned the place? Do you remember that you could even take your TV there for repairs? What about that big ole console radio with the incredibly mellow tone. Does it need a new tube? Thank you Earl for all of the great memories. You were always there when we needed you. Now you just have to find somewhere to dump that defunct electronic marvel that is unfixable and head to Sam’s Club for a new Samsung. Only question is, where do I dump the old one? Good luck with that.
Looking west tonight over the city of San Francisco.
Shadowy Sutro Tower (1973) stands to the far left. It is an important radio and TV antennae for the region, including all (most?) of the local TV stations, and many more important radio functions. Although disliked when first built, many now consider it a local landmark.
To the right of it is the newish skyscraper, Salesforce Tower. Salesforce is taller, although it doesn't look to be from this perspective. Read more on Wikipedia.
Went with my friend local TV storm chaser to get cool pictures of a tornado warned storm. He kept us far away from danger but close enough to get some pictures of the storm
The following day I saw some movement not far from my position on the beach: there were 4 beautiful models filming a commercial for a local TV, I approached and kindly asked to take a photo (unfortunately taken against the sun so it does not show the beautiful faces of the models). Then I talked with them and invited all at dinner. Only Juliana accepted and here you see her beautiful face (photo on the right taken in the restaurant) We had no after-dinner and I never saw her again because the day after I had my flight to Rio and the year after, when I was back in Recife, they told me Juliana had been promoted and was working in São Paulo
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Well... I can't believe it! Me on the TV... Who knew! LOL :-D))
(I hope you don't mind me sharing with this you all.)
Ok, I may not the best looking for TV viewing but how often can you say you where interviewed on TV for your passion, Photography??!
I was interviewed for my Exhibition (which just ended) by a local tv station. What FUN and a unique experience I had. Large cameras in my face ( I was SO nervous) and a real Television atmosphere! We even had a script and a small rehearsal. What an amazing time!! :)
If anyone is interested to give a watch, see link below...
This could be you one day my Flickr friends. If I can get this far in Photography (Tv-exhibitions-craft sales) So can YOU...! :-)))

this is View street ( aptly named ) the first street which is in full bloom in our town . it is late this year , normally this is in bloom in mid Feb .
this photo was featured on Cheknews local tv show . :))
Every year, these things wash up on shore by the thousands. And, every year, the local tv stations report it as news.
It's not news, people. It happens every year. It's natural.
Pescadero State Beach. From my Stuff in the Sand collection.
Photographed during heavy wind at the Yakima Area Arboretum. These birds are eating fruit in a Flower Crab Apple Tree. Considering how the wind was blowing my camera around and how the tree branches were swaying back and forth in the wind I was surprised that any of my photos are relatively sharp. Wind gusts were up to 40 miles per hour according to the local TV weather news. IMG_7091
I have trouble keeping up and thanking everyone individually so I hope you will accept this generic "thank you." I would like to thank everyone who takes the time to view, comment and fave my photographs. It is greatly appreciated and encouraging.
I am disappointed in the price increase here at Flickr but will stick around and hope the most of the will also be here next year.

We're in Missouri. Appeared directly to our north in early afternoon. Heard it was over Iowa. 60,000 ft high but you could see it with your eyes. It was surprising how quickly it moved to the east and out of our view within 10 minutes.
Local TV station KMIZ featured this photo on their 5 o'clock Breaking News tonight.
Adding this note today 20-4-2023; I read that Joe has died this week, 3 months after his 100th birthday. His story appears in so many English newspapers, national and also local. I feel priviliged to have met him by chance out walking in our village and to have captured his portrait and story.
Watching the local TV news this evening, I learned that Joe is 100 years old today and saw him receiving his birthday card sent from King Charles III.
Joe's portrait was my first entry to The Human Family Group here on Flickr in 2016 after I met him out walking in our village and he told me his wartime story.
He received the Légion d'Honneur from Francois Hollande in 2015, presented at a ceremony at the D-Day Museum in Portsmouth.
The TV interviewer tonight asked Joe his advice for a long life and the reply was, "Everything in moderation". Joe did then go on to say that he used to be able to drink 5 pints but now can only manage a half.......
You can see him pictured outside the local church in my original colour shot, with all his medals, below.
The green tower on the building almost in the center of the photo was used by a local TV station back in the 50's and 60's to forecast the weather. When the tower lights are Green it means clear weather, Red light on the tower means storms
Rose Hill
Kamloops, B.C.
When I was a kid, a teenager, there used to be a horse stables somewhere around here called, not surprisingly, Rose Hill Stables. They had a few ads on the local TV station featuring a couple of people riding horses through waving golden grass with a fantastic view like this behind them. Their slogan, for lack of a better term, was "Ride the High Country". That's always stuck with me.
I used to ride here and I don't remember ever thinking how beautiful it was. All I thought about was how beautiful the horses were! You know kids -- single-minded and I was a bit horse crazy back then.

The "higher elevations" are 16 miles away in the Smoky Mountains, good thing I don't depend on local TV weather to "plan my day"!!!
I've photographed this nice old barn along with the beautiful clay-block silo before. This time I was disappointed to find it surrounded by hundreds of wind turbine generators. This was the only angle I had without the ugly things in the background.. Perhaps they help in the green generation of electricity, but they ruin the peaceful, rural landscape. (As the commentator on a local TV station says, "We welcome opposing opinions.")
A mystery has landed in Central Park's pond. A rare Mandarin duck suddenly appeared paddling around with the usual mallards and caused quite a stir.
No one knows where he came from or why he's here though a popular theory is that he used to be someone's pet. Manadarins are certainly not indigenous to Manhattan!
The local tv stations and newspapers have covered his appearance and there has been a paparazzi-type photographic presence ever since. I had to grab my gear and join the fray myself at lunchtime hoping for a spotting. (Love having Central Park close enough for a lunchtime wildlife photoshoot!)
He is certainly quite striking and a colorful way to start the weekend. Have a great one everyone!
Sunset cloud from the 28th January. Just a bit too good to pass up but only had the phone.
Plenty of versions on the local TV weather and I didn't bother looking at this one until flipping through the phone looking for something else.

Still not a cloud in sight. It's been this way for several days now. Well, we're driving down the hill this afternoon...back to sea level and "LN&EMLC&F" (late night and early morning low clouds and fog) as an old local TV weatherman used to say. We probably won't return to the mountains until next month and maybe there will be some fall color by then. Wow, this summer is going by so fast. I've already begun to notice the change in the afternoon sunlight.

A Boston & Maine switch crew works the yard at Waterbury, CT on a muggy August day. According to the billboard, August 15th is local TV reporter Mike Boguslawski day at the Quassy Amusement Park. Make sure to bring the kids!
Storia curiosa,
Australia, 10-12 persone arrivate in visita alla Bay of island, London bridge alto circa 25 m.
Just over 28 years ago (1990), the arch junction collapsed, while 8-10 people were returning inland, no harm to people, and a copy was isolated on the remaining deck. Departed suddenly relief from Melbourne, two helicopters, one for the rescue, given that there was no other possibility for the recovery of the copy, the other for local TV. Helicopters came, the couple did not want to be filmed hiding their faces. In short, the two lovers were both married, who had left their loved ones for a trip, the case caused a sensation and ended up all over the papers.
A crew from local TV station KCRG was on hand, and they asked me to take a photo while crouched. I (briefly) made the news that night.
When the local TV station did a segment on him, his naming fate was sealed. They called him Monte. (I still like Frosty.) Anyway, as you can see, Monte the albino squirrel lives.

Yesterday’s sunrise was so spectacular it even made the local TV news here in the West Country. Luckily, Philip Male, Stephen Davis and I had each chosen Avebury for a Sunday morning jaunt and we all stood in wonder as this eye popping sky developed before us.

Archived Shot From a few years ago. This was the first real Sun Dog I saw in my neighbourhood. It was featured on our local TV station KOB.
Yes, I'm reading a book for the first time in years and what am I reading is but a "love story with a BITE", a VAMPIRE story.
I first watched it in a local tv, a Friday Night Special. I was fascinated with the main characters love to each other. So I bought my own DVD and read some reviews on the net. Still not contented, I bought my own book at amazon.
I am now a few pages away to "New Moon". And soon on buying the "Eclipse" and "Breaking Dawn". Not to mention the most awaited "Midnight Sun".
It is good to have a book you want to take whenever you wanted to escape to the fast pace of life.
Happy Friday Flickr friends.
Art installation in CP24 local TV station, Toronto, Canada. A car is seen through the wall.

52 weeks of 2017 ... culture ...
I live in a region called "de Betuwe" in The Netherlands, it's famous for it's fruit. Every year there is a parade, volunteers build these giant fruit-trailers, a cultural event since 1961.

Questo pomeriggio sarò a Canale 10, ospite della trasmissione "Beauty Farm" per essere intervistato come fotografo...
Cercherò di farmi dare la puntata dopo la messa in onda della prossima settimana per potervela mostrare ;)

Today I will be interviewed at a local tv, as photographer... I'll try and have them to give me a copy of the interview.
During the 2009 Cayman Islands Pirate Week, I was front of the line to watch the parade, along with press from Cayman Net News, and the local TV cameraman. They must've thought I was there with the press, too, since they shooed all the tourists away, but said nothing to those of us with more 'professional-looking' cameras. I was shooting with the Canon and my old Pentax 35 mm film. I'll post those photos when I get them developed! :D

looks like we could be hosting the Women's Sports Report on your local TV station...so, Riz, how about that Wolverine women's basketball team???
Los Angeles, CA
Serendipity. We had a red-eye flight back to Toronto the day I shot this image so, in the afternoon, we headed to the vicinity of LAX so it would be easy to return our rental car with plenty of time to catch our flight. We spent the time just driving around, exploring streets we hadn't driven before, with one eye on the clock. And as we did that, we came across these Stephan Plumbing signs. Pretty cool, right?
Jack Stephan served in the navy in WWII and, after the war ended, he started his own plumbing business in Los Angeles. Since I have never lived in Los Angeles, this plumbing business was not familiar to me, but I've learned online that Jack Stephan was well known for his commercials on local tv in the 70s and 80s.
Info about the signs from the always-informative Roadside Architecture site:
"Jack Stephan Plumbing & Heating had two animated neon signs. They are both at least 15 feet tall. One faucet pours water with sequentially lit strands of tubing. The other faucet has five drops which are lit in sequence. Chief Neon produced these signs in 1946 for $1,500. The signs had been dark since around 2015. The neon was a frequent target of rock-throwing vandals. The last estimate to repair the signs was $5,000. In 2018, these signs were donated to the Museum of Neon Art in Glendale, CA."
I shot this photograph in late September, 2018, so I'm guessing I captured it shortly before the signs were removed to MONA in Glendale. Like I said, serendipity.
I saw the sunrays and edited this for best effect.

This pub looked so inviting.
I didn't realise it was open in mid afternoon otherwise I would have had a beer.
Later I checked up on Facebook and was really impressed with their crowdfunding scheme.
Basically they invited people to 'forward purchase' meals, drinks etc.
They raised over £17,000 in 5 days to keep them afloat during lockdown.
Even made local TV news:
www.itv.com/news/anglia/2020-05-11/village-pub-landlord-o...
Next time I'm that way will definitely pop in!

Wish I had a pub like this in walking distance!
Really Foggy Dawn, local TV weather news reported a 4.5 mile visibility in my area this morning. I couldn't see 450 yards!

Oh yeah!!!
Today, at 8:25pm, the International Space Station crossed the Gran Canaria sky.
And I was there....cooled like a fish. But there, at the end.
The stupid local TV newsreader said that the station must cross the island, starting north-west, and ending to south-east.
In fact he was wrong!!!!!
The Station started crossing the island skies from the sky's zenith from north-north-east.
As you can see, with the polar star pointing north.

Wednesday night's full moon rising over the UW's Walnut Street greenhouses rhymed visually with the greenhouse lights. But it was not, contrary to what I heard on one of the local TV stations -- I forget which one -- a blue moon. That takes place on August 31st. That's according to the newer definition -- the second full moon in a month that has two. The older definition, which dates back to a time when people used the full moons to mark the seasons for agriculture, hunting and religious observances, says a blue moon is the third moon in a season that includes four full moons. According to that standard, the next blue moon occurs on August 21, 2013.
After heavy rains, the fields around us flood for a few days, giving us these wonderful reflections when the wind dies down. These barns are near our house (Abbotsford BC) and this photo was one of several I submitted to a local TV station. It was chosen to be shown one evening on ''Wayne's Weather Window'' on the evening news at BCTV. There 2 other shots similar to this, but also slightly different. (06-7672)
A rainbow hung over Shoreham this afternoon despite no sign of rain at the time. It was not obviously foggy either, so not obviously a fogbow. Curious.
Edit: Likely to be a fogbow - widely seen around Sussex today and on the local TV weather reports
