A male 'boomer on a red granite boulder in the Wichita Mountains WR, SW Oklahoma. These lizard like it hot, often perching on top of a boulder at mid-day.

I believe that this is a Rusty-rumped Whiptail (Aspidocelis septemvittata). This was observed in El Paso, Texas -- in the Franklin Mountains.

A Little Disagreement

The Chinese crocodile lizard (Shinisaurus crocodilurus) is a semiaquatic lizard found only in cool forests in the Hunan, Guangxi and Guizhou Provinces of southern China, and the Quảng Ninh Province in northern Vietnam.
