I thank God the worst of it missed my small town. Nothing but a downpour and a bit of thunder and lightening.
A Dark-eyed Junco coming in hot for some seed from our snowman feeder. I thought it was an interesting effect, as I was shooting at 1/320th due to the lighting and snow. Our snow has since melted and we are in the mid 40s :)
My lovely crocuses out in their full, albeit short glory. I love how the sunlight enhances the delicate beauty and transparency of the petals.
An edit of a recent photo with a little help from Luminar 4 and it's ai sky replacement tool... great fun!!

"Oh now feel it, comin' back again
Like a rollin', thunder chasing the wind
Forces pullin' from
The center of the earth again
I can feel it."
Rainbow prismic separation of colors of a Summer sunset. Happy first Fence Friday of August, my friends! Have a wonderful weekend! :)
This is New St. John’s Baptist Church in Lancaster County, Virginia.
I count 12 lightening rods that are visible in this view of the church. I am surprised that so many are needed on a church.
I took this picture with my phone, from a moving vehicle, and under duress. The driver was yelling, “You’d better take it now. Hurry! Traffic is speeding up! It is your last chance!” Who can focus under those conditions,
I couldn’t find a date when this church was built.
According to an article which mentions this church, the architecture is said to be a mixture of Gothic arches and Victorian features.

On my way home from work last Wednesday I spotted some dramatic sky and rays of light and just knew I had to chase it even if it meant missing the evening meal...skies and rays like this are not 10-a-penny so I sought a big wide landscape of rapeseed to add a colourful anchor to the scene and fired away...
I managed to do both in the end with help from a microwave..
Revelation 18:1 “And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.”
A pretty waterfall in Pennsylvania. Here is lowered the shadows, decreased the clarity, lightened the highlights, and added some vignetting to play around with the mood of this capture. Also reduced the saturation and vibrancy too.
A candid image taken at a funfair.

Thank you all so much for your comments & faves.
Well, actually it's a little Eastern Amberwing dragonfly. They are very small and like most dragonflies, lightening fast.
There were lots of them zipping about and luckily this tiny branch seemed to be a favorite landing spot. Still not the most accessible spot being way down at the water's edge, but I watched and waited - hoping one would land long enough for me to grab a shot or two.
Seen during a recent visit to a nearby arboretum. *** And yes, it's still facing the wrong way and too far away, but beggars can't be choosers.

What is left of this old tree after being shattered in half due to a lightening strike some years ago, even when in this state there are still branches that have new buds, showing that nature will always try her best.
