Another morning's volunteering at the Lightbox.

My lightbox that I made, it's pretty ghetto but I think i'm going to re-make it sometime as I used a pretty bashed up box!

Camera: Pentax Optio 430RS; this is my first test of a lightbox, made from a Dell box and tissuepaper. The camera's white-balance is way off (or over-compensating)

Strobist Info: This was taken in my homemade light box with my D300. The box is made from foam board taped together, open on the top and one side. Over the top is a white sheet. The main light source is my new SB-600 with diffuser on it. The light box is on my dresser in my room and I placed the SB-600 on the floor about 5 feet in front of the box with the flash pointed toward the sheet that covers the top side of the box. I stood slightly behind the SB-600. The flash on the D300 had a diffuser on as well and was dialed down to -3.0 while the SB-600 flash was dialed up to +2.0. Edited with GIMP.

This is my first serious group of "strobist" images so comments/critiques definitely welcome! See my photostream for all 8 images in this group.

First prototype.

Built with our friends at Dynamic Factory.

The Lightbox reflected in the Basingstoke Canal.

The ripples are from water dripping off the tree after heavy rain. I like the "wibbly" reflection of the coloured metal tiles in the water.

I made a DIY lightbox as directed on the strobist website, this is one of the first pictures from it. I think I could have taken more care with the focus but I'm very pleased for something that took only an hour to build. I used scrapbook paper for the sides and inside of the lightbox. The sides have a strip where I had to layer the edges of separate sheets of paper, but I think the result is none the worse for wear.

One SB-600 to camera right, set in manual mode to maybe 1/8th or 1/16th power, about 6 inches away from the side of the box.

Using my 50mm f/1.8 because 35mm on FX is too wide XD

Made a new lightbox to photograph my doll clothing and miniatures, and I'm really happy with the results. Lita (Barbie Fashionistas 51) seems very pleased with her new dress - such a graceful doll!

The dress was made from my own pattern, which I created just for her, and was completely sewn by hand and embroidered. The belt is a separate piece, to give more styling versatility.

Trying some different techniques with my lightbox. Gave up on the shooting the light thru the slit in the back as no matter what I do, I get a crease when I do it. This is shot with a SB900 thru white brolly just camera right and SB600 camera left with blue gel.

The vinyl shower curtain ($2) indeed works better than the sheet. Yay!

To make the seamless background, cut card to the width of the box. Once I've made a second lightbox out of a better shaped box I'll put some self-adhesive velcro on the top of the back which will make it easy to change the background.

testing out my ghetto lightbox i made tonight.

Experimenting with a lightbox. Flickr friend Second Street turned me on to the Strobists website where I learned how to make one.

Just playing around with vegies in my lightbox - tomatoes with an oriental touch.

After I built my homemade lightbox I took this angled photo to test that the lighting reached all sides of an object being photographed.
