NO GIFS AND ANIMATED ICONS, PLEASE!

I've been watching some tutorials by Harold Davis this weekend - trying to get my head around his techniques for lightbox floral photography. I have a long way to go, lol!

Thank you in advance for your views, comments, and faves. They are much appreciated!

Playing with my food again on the lightbox. Shining light through the slices really shows it off in a different way. Are you looking at things differently? It makes life a little more intersting.

By placing the seeds on the light box you can see even more structures of nature.

Thanks for taking time to comment and fave my work. I really appreciate.

Strathcona Provincial Park is an extraordinarily beautiful and very large park in the middle of Vancouver Island. It is British Columbia's oldest Provincial Park. Though we encountered considerable cloudiness during this trip, we still were breathtaken by the many extraordinary and rugged mountains that came into our view. The park is relatively close to the city of Campbell River.

Despite the cloudy weather, we fell in love with Strathcona Provincial Park, reachable from Victoria by Highway 19 to Campbell River and Highway 29 westward toward Gold River.

Here is a video of a daytrip to Strathcona taken by Love Your RV.

From our 2019 Vancouver Island trip album.

Our Strathcona pictures are also available in our Strathcona album.

For the best view experience, highly recommended to watch the photos in lightbox and fullscreen. Looks better in lightbox (press "L" key) or just push toggle slideshow button on photostream. Thanks.

Sliders Sunday

Rex is visiting the Dinosaur Museum and he's admiring a painting of one of his relatives Great Uncle Jerry from the Jurassic Era!

I'm just wondering WHO painted it!

This is a Photoshop 2021 creation. Happy Sliders Sunday!!!

The anhinga (Anhinga anhinga), sometimes called snakebird, darter, American darter, or water turkey, is a water bird of the warmer parts of the Americas. The word anhinga comes from the Brazilian Tupi language and means devil bird or snake bird. The origin of the name snakebird is apparent when swimming: only the colored neck appears above water so the bird looks like a snake ready to strike. They do not have external nares (nostrils) and breathe solely through their epiglottis.

The anhinga is placed in the darter family, Anhingidae, and is closely related to Indian (Anhinga melanogaster), African (Anhinga rufa), and Australian (Anhinga novaehollandiae) darters. Like other darters, the anhinga hunts by spearing fish and other small prey using its sharp, slender beak.

Anhinga species are found all over the world in warm shallow waters. The American anhinga has been subdivided into two subspecies, A. a. anhinga and A. a. leucogaster, based on their location. A. a. anhinga can be found mainly east of the Andes in South America and also the islands of Trinidad and Tobago. A. a. leucogaster can be found in the southern United States, Mexico, Cuba, and Grenada.

Only birds that live in the extreme north and south of their range migrate and do so based on temperature and available sunlight. Anhingas will migrate towards the equator during winter but this range is "determined by the amount of sunshine to warm the chilled birds". - Wikipedia

Explore #1 - Highest Position, October 3rd. Thanks everyone!

Earlier this week, the central California coast was blessed with its first real sunset since the summer marine layer began way back in May. That light caused a furor around the Bay Area, with lots of photogs hoping that the winter sunset season had begun.

So it came as no surprise when this past week I received a flurry of text messages asking how the evening clouds looked here at the coast in Santa Cruz. But sadly, the entire week was crystal-clear and cloudless. Until Friday night that is. A few clouds started to build, but nothing to get too exited about. Nevertheless, I knew there were some keen shooters out there, so I got in touch with Jave and David, and talked about the clouds a bit.

Both guys decided to roll on out to the coast to shoot Natural Bridges even if it meant shooting in less than spectacular conditions. As we got to the beach however, it became apparent that the sky was going to BLOW UP (to use the appropriately Jave vernacular). When the color did arrive, it was so full and beautiful that it caused us to lose all rationality and run around like chickens, scratching in the sand and shooting shooting shooting.

Afterward we kept talking about how it was the best light we've ever seen at NB (either in person or in photos). Simply amazing.

- Local contrast adjustments to water streaks to add definition

In Photoshop:

- Noise reduction via Neat Image

- Selective Sharpening of arch

- Slight brightness and contrast boost to foreground

- Slight brightness and contrast boost to bridge to enhance the light there

- Luminosity mask on bright brights with darkening curves layers to improve color near the horizon on the right hand side
