For assignment52-192012 'Hands'.
a photograph of my hand taken in total darkness, using a red LED as the only light source.
The Spurn Light Ship, now permanently (I think) moored in Hull Marina and open as a museum. I think I've been in it before, many years ago.
This what seems to be a sunset picture is actually the result of Light Polution from the nearest town, (Loughborough).
I love night time photography as it's so peaceful and the way the light plays upon the clouds above by the moon and below by the light polution....
Yet another reminder of how over populated our little country is....
I just finished watching a 30 hour hour documentary on WWI on the History Channel . It was vivid and extremely disturbing. Even after studying this era in high school and college I was amazed at the depths of human cruelty and also the heights of human bravery. The world was truely on the brink of madness. A simple picture to hope this never happens again.

The set of these 4 similar photos were created by a pretty simple, totally random idea. I got something called an Ecube for Christmas once and it's basically a light up Rubicks cube with buttons to swap the colours, pretty cool eh. Anyway the random idea was just to put a normal empty pint glass on top of the cube and then focus on the rim of the glass when looking straight down into it from above. The light glow bounced of the inside and created a tunnel of colour. Was hard though trying to get the camera looking down dead centre, a lot of patience was needed it's fair to say...
No photoshop or image altering.

The black queen photo was taken by using my DIY rim light fiberstrobe attachment to my external wireless flash (Minolta 5600HSD).

The sun's rays shine down through the clouds onto Lundy island. Seen from our holiday flat, Woolacombe, North Devon
These are some light painting photos I created to enter in my camera club's 'long exposure' competition. This was taken at ampthill play park, using the Led Lenser V24 to paint around the climbing frame, and my dome tool in the foreground. See my other photo from a different angle.

"The light is so LA right now," Anita said as we said good-bye at the restaurant. It's a difficult thing to describe, but it's a warm, hazy, lazy feeling light that is specific to the area. I think that the show 24 does a great job of depicting this light.
Passing a rather antiquated and weed-choked platelayers' hut, Freightliner 'Shed' 66 531 runs round coal empties whilst shunting York Yard. This part of York is scheduled for major redevelopment, with houses to be built on the yard and new sidings laid on the far side of the station avoiding line. @12.19
I'm driving, I'm flying, on the brink of life and dying
The highway, it's my way, take off you clothes before we lie
What's your name, what's my name, my mind is trying to catch your lovely figure
You figured, my fingers, caress your curves and overpass predictions
My diction, I stutter, but with you black ice feels nice and cautions signs don't seem mind
That's right, that's right…, hey the EXIT is to your right
Oh…dumb tis, dumb tis, dumb tis-oh, dumb-dumb dumb-dumb tissssssss…
The streak before the heavens, believing is not the lesson
Travel though light that trails to kiss the stars across your bosom
Lets yield, not stop, the speed of light will soon reach us
But…, before…, before it does…
What's your name
Light………………oh
Searching for some nature and landscape captures I found a light bulb on the ground, and started to experiment a bit with it. I tried to integrate the light bulb in some captures. In order to have the effect that the light bulb is glowing I adjusted with some elliptic masks the exposure next to the light bulb with lightroom. Feel free to comment.
It was raining in LA and I caught this reflection of the Urban Light sculpture outside of LACMA.
