Finally gave in and got a proper light tent. Though my homemade one does a great job, I needed a bigger one for the pics for a magazine article I'm writing and the thought of a huge cardboard box hanging around swung it :)
This was just a quick test and I still used my normal fax paper roll for the base and backdrop, the cloth one that came with the tent needs ironing as it is a bit creased. A single 20W CFL desklamp was used from above here.
Pretty pleased with it so far and should be fun exploring what it can do.

Pour fêter la nouvelle année d'une façon un peu différente, j'ai organisé un lâcher de ballons lumineux le soir du 1er janvier sur la plage à marseille.
To start the new year with a bang, I organized a release of lighten ballons in the sky. 30 or 40 people gathered in the cold to help and see. Thanx everyone.
Been looking for a shot to try out the star filter in the tiffen dfx application. Also used night for day and gold reflector.

I could not find any fixtures for these new 80W Dulux bulbs I wanted, so I had to make my own... the reflector is assembled and ballast is mounted.

From the TMA exhibit Between Light and Shadow, by Anila Quayyum Agha, this portion of the show is entitled The Greys in Between.
i was pleasantly surprised at the outcome of this because it was 97 cent pack of glow sticks from walmart. usually i need LED's to get anywhere close to this but the small room trapped all the light and it was great.
Went back to an old and very decayed raf camp used in ww2,to light piant this boiler room.
It was very dark in there(well you could'nt see a thing!),and was very hard to navigate around these old boilers, got there in the end with some help of a friend of mine(cheers graham!)
Dark room, red and green gelled flash, mini maglight, and LED light,3 min exposure.
Taken during a photography meetup organised by LPMG ("Light orbs and light rails").
Interesting, I think. Did a little zoomburst too for extra effect. It almost looks like an alien is beaming down!!
The technique is very simple once somebody shows you how and is a lot of fun, we were shooting at the South Bank and lots of people were stopping to watch us :) We used LED fairy lights
I'd love to hear your comments, it's the first time I've done this kind of thing.
