I'm trying out JUploader, a new Flickr upload tool recommended by Lifehacker. iPhoto can upload, but it has taken over 30 minutes to upload a single photo. Seriously. At the moment, my method of choice is plain old email, but that doesn't work so well for more than one photo at a time.

Oh, and the desktop image courtesy of "swissboy" on SXC.

hehe by who else but from Gina Trapani (Ms. Lifehacker herself). Firefox addon Better Gmail2 will stick Google Calendar and Google reader underneath each other in Gmail. For the Calendar I think it's really useful.

Made a sun-jar with the help of these guys and it turned out pretty well! This is v.1. We may have a v.2 party later in the summer.

My iPhone apps were starting to get out of control, so I googled methods for organizing them. I found two articles that inspired me to do the following:

-Make a blank home screen

-Create a Faves folder on the dock

-Organize other apps into folders titled with action verbs

-Start those folders on page 2 of the home screen

It's not a flawless system -- Photo isn't an action verb, and Photograph is too long -- but so far it does seem very tidy and intuitive.

Google Chrome on Ubuntu, I've moved my window buttons to the right by following this life hack - lifehacker.com/5500577/move-ubuntus-window-buttons-back-t... - then in Chrome Options -> Personal Stuff -> Appearance, I selected "Use system title bar and borders" and hit the "Use GTK+ theme" button.

It is very easy to use. There is a choice of different skins and other utilities and a very useful is the label colour thing (see large picture size). However to get the label colour to work you need to name your labels e.g work #red. This may be annoying if you access your gmail from a number of different computers, but works great if you work from just one primary computer.

Once installed all options etc available from the tools menu--> bettergmail in firefox.

NB: For myself at least I found that the original bettergmail extension (rather than bettergmail2 works best)

While its not drawing in as much interest as Lifehacker, to get on the del.icio.us/popular/ is still quite overwhelming. I'm starting to think this project was actually a good idea...

Sun Jars, based on Jason Fitzpatrick's LifeHacker post ( lifehacker.com/5315357/create-your-own-sun-jar-lifehacker... ) and using Dale Wheat's Lux Spectralis ( dalewheat.com/luxspectralis/ ) for color.

Riffing on the recent flap about Gina Trapani of Lifehacker creating a blacklist if 'PR spammers,' I pose the question 'what is spam?' Wth social networking taking off in many forms, we receive- and send- tons of unsolicited messages every day. How do I know when you're spamming me, and when I'm sppamming you? I would love to hear your definitions.

Last year I was in a weight loss competition at my work. One of the things I did to burn more calories was to stand for most of the day. So for a while I had a makeshift standing desk of boxes and monitor stands on top of a regular desk. About 6 months ago I came across a lifehacker post (http://mcaf.ee/a8f53) about an adjustable height desk. After reading the post, I did some searching and I was able to find two of these desks.

I used the Sunday Comics because she really enjoys reading them, especially the ones that remind her of me :/

This it a quick one day project for anyone who has a Mac. I used a free program called Geektool to create shell scripts that show the date, month and time. After that it was just using the built in options to change fonts. Photoshop CS5 was used to make the clouds in a PNG file and the wallpaper was from a post on Lifehacker.com. You can flickr mail me if you want the shell scripts or resources.

I usually view these pictures in FireFox but they seemed 'washed out.' By following the instructions of this page lifehacker.com/396742/tweak-firefox-to-display-richer-colors the colors are much richer. The warning is that pages can load slower but I haven't seen any difference.

It may look like a mess, but if you go full-size and pan around you can see the evidence of the man's genius. Lifehacker had nothing on my family.
