Friday was my last lesson with my senior class before their Trial Exams. It was a frantic rollercoaster ride where I was desperately trying to cram in some last little tidbits about the film, 'Life is Beautiful'. I even shed a little tear & drew them all over the whiteboard. Can you see the little orange teardrops? My classroom photographer, 'The Wise Twin' got in on the act & wrote her screen name on the board as well.
I'm wearing another thrifted LA jacket. This one's got a 'Made in Japan' label on it & my guess is that it's from the seventies.
The multi-coloured scarf from 'Anthro' goes well with my 'Hundreds & thousands' thrifted dress. Thrifted Blue perspex flower pin, red plastic flower ring from 'Forever 21'; thrifted 'Bally' bootlets, black bubble skirt, years old.

হায়রে বাংলাদেশি!!

বাঙ্গালি চেতনা যে আমাদের নবীন প্রজন্মের নিকট প্রকট, তা নিঃসন্দেহে সন্দেহাতীতভাবে সত্য। উপরের ছবিটাই তার আরেকটি প্রমাণ।
এ চেতনার জন্ম কিন্তু বাংলা ভাষা আন্দোলন এর মাধ্যমেই। আমি নিশ্চিত যে, ভাষা আন্দোলনের মাধ্যমে বাঙ্গালি জাতিস্বত্বার জন্ম যদি না হত, ৭১ এ স্বাধীনতা লাভ সম্ভব হত না। তবুও কিছু কিছু ঘাটতি তো থেকেই যায়। ভারত-পাকিস্তান হতে পৃথক হয়েও আমরা এখনো আলাদা হতে পারিনি। তবে এ যুগের পরিবর্তন হচ্ছে। ভাষার মাসে এখন আমরা তথ্য-প্রযুক্তিতে উন্নত একটা জাতিকে এই ক্ষেত্রেই নাকানি-চুবানি খাইয়েছি। আর একটি দেশের খেলোয়াড়রা তাদের অন্নসংস্থানের তাগিদে আমাদের দেশে খেলতে আসছে। তবুও এখনো গুটিকয়েক ছাগলের তিন নম্বর বাচ্চা পাকিস্তানি পতাকা ওড়ায়, ‘পাকিস্তান,পাকিস্তান’ বলে চেঁচায় । টিভি খুলে ভারতীয় চ্যানেলে রাণ্ডি চামেলী-মুন্নিগুলোর দিকে ড্যাব ড্যাব করে চেয়ে থাকে আর মিনিটে মিনিটে হিন্দি গান আওড়ায়। ১টা বাংলা বাক্য বলতে গেলে ৫টা হিন্দি শব্দের আবির্ভাব ঘটায়। বড়ই পরিতাপের বিষয়!!!
আজ শহীদ দিবস ও আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস। জন্মের পর এক বাঙ্গালি শিশুর জীবনে সর্বপ্রথম এই ভাষার মাধ্যমেই জাতীয় চেতনার উৎপত্তি ঘটে। তাই, যাঁদের শাহাদাতের ফলস্বরূপ এই ভাষা ও বর্ণমালার স্বীকৃতি, তাঁদের মাগফিরাত কামনা করছি। আল্লাহ যেন তাঁদের কবরের আযাব মাফ করেন ও বেহেস্তবাসী করেন। আমিন...

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.
