I find the wood duck drakes to be one of the most stunning birds on the planet.
I enjoyed photographing this one on New Year's Day.
Fun facts about them: They have claws on their feet that help them climb trees. They also are the only North American duck that produces two sets of young.
Taken at Burnaby Lake.

LOL these geese sure gave me a funny look as I was taking a photo of them. They are pretty birds, aren't they!!
Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that we are beautiful, no so much skin wise but inside. I know I am, despite all that life has thrown at me both mentally, physically and emotionally--I still try to find the beauty in life, the good in people and laugh as much as I can.
Someone said, our Past is just that, Our Future is unknown but the now is a gift and that is why it is called the Present.
Make the most of it
At Chong Kneas the floating village near Siem Reap, Cambodia.
This picture reminded me of the movie Life is Beautiful where a father goes through extraordinary efforts to shield his young son from finding out what is really going on in the Nazi concentration camp where they were imprisoned.
...or at least over the rooftops...! ;-)

I have been craving spring so badly. I blame my Flickr friends for posting their beautifully detailed butterflies and delicate flowers. Haha! Usually, around here, winter goes from at least November until May. By my calculations I will have to live vicariously through the rest of your spring and summer shots for another 3 months or so. Hopefully they will help me make it through my winter blues!

We saw this young Barred Owl just waking up stretching and starting to hunt. He let us get close which was a real treat. This was at Radnor Lake in Tenn. Beautiful isn't he!?
From this summer!
Life is filled with changes...some are wonderful and bring joy - while others bring sadness and challenge. And so it has been with me the last 6 months, with an unexpected change in my life. It has made me stronger and caused me to appreciate all the beauty in my life, including incredible friends.
Each day is a gift..
Blessings

My neighbor does Estate Sales for people and while cleaning out a house she called me to come and take some plants. Well if you know me at all you know I cleaned out the van and went straight over there!! Among the 15 or so plants we saved from the dumpster was this orchid. Three weeks after we brought it home it bloomed. On New Years Eve!!!!! This to me was a sign it is going to be a Great Year!!!! Happy New Years Flickr Friends!!!

Todays quote is a message to myself really, to remind myself that I should have more faith in myself, after a bad day yesterday when I got right to the end of some exam coursework and thought I'd got some figures wrong, so I scrapped three days' work and started again, only to get two hours into it again and find out I was actually right in the first place.
So when I got up at half seven and found this glorious sunrise this morning, I just had to fling my coat on over my pj's and run up the street with my camera to capture it. The quote fits it perfectly. Sorry for my rambling today!! Have a wonderful weekend everyone :)
