Make a photograph featuring a path, road, or trail that leads the eye through the photograph., post it then Tag it with #TP392

Attaches to the strap. I need to upgrade to the larger one that fits the Treo now though.

In which I attempt to explain life hacks to a lay audience in 9 slides.

I swear it’s funnier with the transitions and my live musical soundtrack (mostly performed while holding my nose and trying to emulate an Edison Wax Cylinder).

A quick mock-up made from an old manilla envelope, used side in, and ends glued over some BBQ skewers which can rest on the edge of a box.

My desk - where I get most of my schoolwork done

If you love somebody, set them free. If they don't come back, hunt them down and shoot them.

Emerge desktop, rocket dock and samurize

Nothing much fancy going on here, except that I replaced most of the Windows XP icons in shell32.ddl with windows 7 ones to make it all look a bit more "flash".

EmergeTasks at the bottom left is set slightly transparent and to always be on top of other windows. When I first got it set up, I spent a while wondering what was missing. It was the time.

Samurize now sits on the top right alongside emergeTray, rendering the time and date, and both are also on top of all windows. Putting them there, not quite on the edge of the screen, means they sit right beside the window controls when an application is maximised.

Tell her: How many weeks since last haircut; 3 on the sides; choppy and combed-forward on top; no product; no permanent part

Made out of a V Energy Drink can! I learned how to make this from Grant Thompson, the King of Random!

I'd call that a V-Hack!

My linux-based Linksys WRT54G wireless route with the hack-version fireware of DD-WRT with a lot of features. Really COOL!

It's the detail of the route status showing every thing, really every thing of the route system!

This kitchen has a dumb fan in the wall over the stove. It's great for venting but it lets cold air in like whoa. I've been trying various things that will be totally removable and keep most of the chill out. This is a box made from blueboard and foam and duct tape, held in place with rubber bands on hooks. It's not pretty but it mostly works.

GTD/inbox+todo on folders: Windows, TotalCommander; red-colored files and folders are changed in last 10 hours (configurable); movement on the tree (tree is useful for overview), plus Ctrl-Left -- quick jump to highlighted folder on left pane. Tabs on top very handy for quick switching forth-and-back when you interrupted by short urgent task. Tabs can be locked (marked by asterisk).

inspired by a thread on the 43folders google group

Some of the ways I managed to write really long papers. (That got really good marks too.)

Everyone has probably been annoyed by how much space potato chips take up. There is a simple solution to this problem. The space requirement decreases enormously if you grind the chips. The most effective way to do this is with a blender.

Inspired by jazzmasterson and infrarad, I'm going to try adopting coin envelope based project management.

These are all currently empty. I put them up to prove they'd hang correctly with the position of the pin/clips.

I often do weird little things to make my life easier (and people subsequently make fun of me). Today, Chanel and Bryce encouraged me to document them on Flickr. I think I'll start a new series. Lancisms. Zillahacks. I dunno.

I've been seeing more and more people using rubber bands to keep their RSA tokens from jingling against their badges. I saw Dorelle do it a few weeks ago. A couple of days ago, Erin asked me for a rubber band.

When I was digging one out of the girl's hair band box, I found a nice little purple one. Then, I realized that there was an easier solution. Velcro!

picked up this handy little thing at the SFMOMA bookstore

If you use no strap or use a wrist strap, you may have experienced the fear of your camera slipping from your fingers. Fear no more.

Simply attach a keyring to the strap ring (or triangle) and put your middle finger through it, and you're all set. It's surprisingly comfortable and reassuring.

I've tried this both with and without the wrist strap, and it works both ways no problem.

It doesn't take much to keep me productive on the road. Laptop, AC power inverter, and Blackberry with a data plan and I am ready to go.

For comfort I have the Sirius and "mobile refreshment center" from any fast food restaurant.
