one fatal flaw of logitech programmable keyboards is their lack of support for firefox. their default and only browser supported is ie. this can be annoying for someone who owns a keyboard that support various media keys however, this can easily be fixed.
- on the right hand side of your taskbar find the logitech icon and right click on it
- select the "itouch configuration" option. in this window you can change the mapping of the hot keys.
- select a hot key and select modify at the bottom right. a normal configuration for a given hot key would be the url to the desired site but with this problem at hand we need to take another approach.
- click on the drop down menu and change the selection to program.
- enter the path to firefox followed by the url to the desired site. note the space between the program path and the url:
c:\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe www.flickr.com/
- now when you press the button the keyboard will send the command to firefox.
You can see my laptop and my notebook for sketching user interfaces. Plenty of room to spare for other stuff like my copy of Agile Web Development with Rails or Quicksilver. :)
Although it seemed like a logical move at the time, trying to avoid the angst of choosing a matching outfit by reducing the number of possible combinations turned out somewhat less successfully than I first imagined.

Super nerdy, but I stuck a plastic hook over my deadlock so I can hang stuff there. That way I can't possibly forget it when I rush out in the morning (a problem I tend to have a lot). Here you see my rent check ready to go out in the morning.

Today I received a lovely package from the guys at Poketo, a new wallet, yay! I did this in my other poketo wallet but it's pretty much worn out so I thought I'd do it again in the new one. The original label was placed over my credit card number so everytime I needed to order something online I had to read the label before taking the card out. It made sure I knew that I have thought twice on what I was about to spend. Since the economy isn't going so well it's probably wise for everyone to start saving up and ceasing all unnecessary expenditure, regardless of your job security.
Probably going to customise the wallet a bit more, but I'm not sure if it's ready to go out of the street yet, my old one is still pretty ace :). Anyway, hope this little life hack inspires you to do the same with your money. It's easy to just hand money in or jam a debit/credit card in to buy that thing you thought you really needed but actually didn't. So yeah, it's a tough year, save up and think twice before you buy :)

I flashed the VOIP version of dd-wrt v23 sp1 which provide SIP at Home web interface for the SIP Express Router running on DD-WRT Embedded Linux. This can make my wireless route become a VOIP route.

closed with binder clip leaver acting as closure. The illustration is the logo from my unused letterhead from ye olde printing press days cut out and glued on. Now I can print my own letterheads one at the time. Isn't technology marvelous?

As The David would attest, manilla folders are the key to keeping your workspace sane and tidy. He mentions that it's always a good practice to keep a healthy supply of manilla folders on hand. Every piece of paper that is not in your inbox should be in some type of container, and that container better be labeled big and bold! The thinking goes that, "Hey, folders are cheap– use lots of them!," but something inside me finds that a bit wasteful. Sure, the paper bits from my Western Digital rebate should be in a folder, but I don't want to waste a whole folder on something that has a lifespan of a day or two. Enter 3M Scotch Removable Magic 811 Tape. Simply put a little tape on the tab, write big and bold with your sharpee, and remove it when you're done. Rinse. Repeat. No muss. No fuss. No guilt.
