i feel like a flickr failure when i don't upload something at least once a week.
this is a really, really rough draft of a video i'm going to do when i get around to buying a new charger for my camcorder. filmed these clips with my built in webcam because i couldn't sleep last night, hahah. so i apologize for the poor quality.
i didn't realize the irony in the three books on my sidetable until after i filmed that shot.
1) a light in the attic- i've always loved shel silverstein. i think he's brilliant. whenever i read his books, i get ideas for writing. so it's kind of an inspirational book, although it's a children's book :P
2) invisible monsters by chuck palahniuk- this book is lifechanging. it made me think a lot and i think it changed the way i look at a lot of things. it's amazing. i've read it three times now
3) the holy bible- the only reason this is on my desk is because my dad's girlfriend bought it for me, haha. i'm not a religious person whatsoever. and if i were forced to choose a religion it would certainly not be christianity.
which is what makes
4) the little baby buddha so appropriate. if i did choose a religion, it would either be judaism or buddhism.
just a little something i thought i'd share :P

My babygirl turns 9 today!!! Exactly nine years ago, to the minute, I gave birth to my second child. A girl named Luna Jobayla. A lifechanging moment, even more than the birth of my first daughter. This time I was alone. Pretty exciting and sometimes scary and overwhelming. Never someone to talk to, hand things over to or just have a night off. But I am blessed with my kids, they've given me so much love, joy and pride. And the older they get, the more I love being a mom. Happy birthday Luna! Enjoy your day today. I hope you will never lose the girl you are now, you will grow up to be a wonderful woman one day. This was a pivotal level of relaxation I encountered having slvrbrboy1 with me this week. I've discovered things about myself and learned things about my friends that I would have never known without this visit happening. There are friendships, and then there are lifechanging friendships. Every friendship I have can easily become a lifechanger. Slvrbrboy1 has showed me how to truly be...

I was so overwhelmed by today's CSA pick-up, I couldn't focus -- literally (sry for the blurry photo).
This is our first year as members of the illustrious Caretaker Farm in Williamstown, MA. It's been a little bit lifechanging -- all of my CSA experiences so far have been urban, or semi-urban. This is a whole different game, and a plentiful one at that. This is about 2/3 of our weekly share. I think I must have walked back and forth, from the barn to the field, at least six times, totally in awe of the amount of food.
What's here, clockwise from top center:
- Red Boston lettuce
- Yukina (like tatsoi, maybe?)
- Mizuna
- Romaine (a stunning one, too -- wish it was in focus!)
- Bergamot, lemon balm, chives, winter savory, and lavender (pick-yr-own; and there was tons of other stuff!)
- Red head lettuce
- Boston lettuce
- Radishes
- Turnips
Not pictured (!):
- Spinach
- Mustard greens
- Bok choi
Stuff I didn't get because I was kind of hyperventilating:
- Rhubarb (already have 2 lbs. of our own in the fridge)
- Baby salad greens (ditto)
Needless to say, I just ate an enormous salad for lunch!
