Taco night. We make tacos regularly at home. It's a quick, easy and tasty meal. Especially for summer when the weather makes a big meal just too much. We mix it up and use hard, soft, and lettuce shells. @Gerrythorpe had mastered making corn tortillas and I've perfected our house taco seasoning that gives the right kick without to much salt. A drizzle of chipotle hit sauce on dollop of sour cream makes for a nice photo, but sometimes it's just great to pile on grilled eppers and onions. Final course: 11. Chocolate & cherry! @BoskTO listed the final tasting menu dish as parsnip cheesecake... it's like a little devil had called them and told them about my relationship with parsnips. Which, let's just say, i s far from cordial. Chefs across the city have teased me by serving it when I'm at a tasting menu committed to try everything out in front of me. The team at Bosk were gentler and let me swap out for chocolate and cherry, two of my favourite flavours together. Cocoa nib ice cream alongside many plays on chocolate and cherry and textures. Thanks to the entire team at Bosk for treating us like we were on a media dinner, when we weren't. Last night’s birthday dinner was at @surirestaurants. The food was very good, and we had the option of ordering from either the menu (mainly tapas, flatbreads and small plates) and a couple of “You & Me” entree sized sizes like this gorgeous osso buco w/ gnocchi that @tilfordduncan ordered. Or the Wednesday night Asada special - an Argentinian-style all you can eat bbq with meats grilled over a large open fire. Unfortunately, we didn’t all order the Asada option which was quick and easy and while all the food was tasty, it took almost 2 hours for most of the food to start rolling out to the table. Corn fritters for dinner with a sriracha maple dip. Fritters made with 1/2 fresh, 1/2 roasted corn, parmesan, an egg, chives, scapes, flour, corn starch, and a hit of cayenne. Pan fried in a spicy olive oil. Dip made with homemade sriracha, homemade maple syrup and @sheldoncreekdairy sour cream (which is actually sour and fantastic!). I'd say, I killed it! Noodles, lovely Singapore Noodles. I discovered this dish at small hole in the wall with just enough room for two huge woks in Waterloo near the university. And it has been one of my comfort foods for over 30 years. Why, yes I did just whip up a peach cobbler with those peaches ripening on the counter. I did it the way i was taught, with sweet biscuits making a cobblestone pattern across the top.
