Diefenbunker: Canada's Cold War Museum
The Bunker was essential to the continuity of government in the event of a nuclear crisis. Not only was there an executive government in the form of the War Cabinet, but select government departments had to function as well.
Eighteen offices on the 300 and 400 level would have provided 24-hour support to their respective ministers. Look down the corridor and you’ll see the Department of Transportation, the Department of Public Works, and the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources.
Government agencies were also part of the Bunker’s operations. For example, the Canadian Housing and Mortgage Corporation had an office here. This agency would have helped establish temporary accommodations for displaced citizens.
Take a look into the recreated offices, making note of the desks. Bunker psychologists determined that bright colours would help people in a lockdown situation cope with catastrophic conditions up top. These offices reflect that design decision.

Used good condition Langley Model 530 "Speedcast" Level Wind casting reel. I would say this is a late 1960's or early 1970's reel. It is in great condition and operates smoothly and cleanly. The green finish and metal rim on side plate show very well on this piece. Made in USA.
Broken concrete 'low-level crossing' structure at Notukeu Creek.
There are several other of these creek crossings in this area but this was the worst.
At this time the road crossing would only work for something like an ATV or tractor when the water level is low.
There is a nearby bridge but it has been permanently closed.

The Level Crossing at Heckington. Not many manually operated crossings left now, and it adds to the effect of the village... a reminder of times when life was a lot less hurried and the days of many branch lines and village stations.
This level crossing deserves listed status, the gates adding to the scene with the windmill in the background.

Another nice Detail of the Volkswagen Manufactory in Dresden.
Transparent Factory is the English name of an automobile production plant owned by German carmaker Volkswagen, designed by architect Gunter Henn, and opened in 2002. The original German name is Gläserne Manufaktur (factory made of glass, literally vitreous manufactory). Both the German and English names are a word play on the double meaning of transparent and glassy, referring to both optical transparency and transparency of the production process.

The water level route was the mainline of the New York Central railroad which ran from New York City to Chicago with virtually no grades in between. The route is owned by several different railroads today however south of Croton Harmon it retains its original four tracks.
