The Great Lakes water levels are at an all time high this year. This is the East Point lighthouse near the village of Killarney on Georgian Bay taken last month. The winds were whipping up gusts of about 80 km at times. When the water levels are high, the crashing waves can cause real damage on shore. There is another lighthouse on Georgian Bay in Lions Head. Last week the wind took off the one side of the lighthouse and left the inside exposed to the elements. Huge boulders around the lighthouse were displaced. Sadly, there is not much money spent on maintaining the lighthouses anymore.

An iPhone shot of Waterloo station, London, using the Fjorden grip.

I was taken by the two different levels separated by the hand rail, and the geometric shapes, plus

the fairly minimalistic nature of the scene, given that it’s probably very busy at other times.

The two guys walking at right angles to one another also caught my eye.

Nineteen years and fifty one weeks after hurricane Katrina leveled literally everything in this view we see Amtrak's inaugural Mardi Gras Service train crossing Biloxi Back Bay into Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

With great gloating and fanfare this "inaugural" run shuttled the executives and the bureaucratic elites between New Orleans, and Mobile, and back.

One notable "dignitary" missing from the guest list was the disgraced Mayor of New Orleans, Latoya Cantrell, whom after campaigning to bring this train back unfortunately did not attend. It can only be assumed that she missed due to her recent indictments on fraud charges. It is said the mayor, and her lover, whom was coincidentally her security guard, funneled nearly 100k in travel expenses to places like a high end Napa California winery... I'm sure in this crowd her guidance and company was sorely missed...

The northbound run of the Gulf Coast Mardi Gras Service was made in near spotless, although scorching, conditions. At every stop the town's mayors, accompanying crowds, and accoutrements, were all proudly on display to welcome Amtrak back to the coast. As of today, August, 18, 2025, the real service has begun with two daily roundtrips between Mobile and New Orleans. Time will tell how the ridership numbers fare, but for now it is a happy, and relatively on time start to the new service.

Thanks for looking!

Soo Line train 214, powered by lone EMD SD60M No. 6061, waits for a signal at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on November 27, 1992. Passing by on the main line is Amtrak train 338 to Chicago, substituted with Chicago Metra commuter equipment. For several years in the early 1990’s, Amtrak would borrow some equipment from Metra to substitute on the Chicago to Milwaukee “Hiawatha” corridor during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. This would allow Amtrak to move equipment normally used on the run to expand capacity on other trains to handle increased holiday ridership.

Shot taken for Saturday Self Challenge 26/04/2025 -- Bubbles .

You will have to do with just the two bubbles for the challenge , there was a spirit bubble on the tripod but is always hidden once a camera is mounted .

Anyway , here is a neat little level that fits into the flash hotshoe on top of the camera . With it in this configuration you can check that the camera is not tilting to one side or the other and that you are taking a shot with a level view . Of course if it is wonky horizons you are worried about then most cameras will have a built in indicator available to activate on the rear screen or in the viewfinder !!

Worth it one way or another , nothing so annoying as to see an image that is tilted when it should be straight ( Dutch Angles excepted ) !!

A good friend from a photo site back in the day who was a brilliant photographer always said about how wonky horizons were bad photography which could be easily fixed with post processing being one of the quickest and easiest fixes going - something I have never forgotten D.J. !!

Well a bubble challenge sorted and for a tune to go with it , I wonder how many of you will remember this ----

Good day gentleladies and gentlelords! (✧ω✧)

Man cave opens today on the 17th of September! Some of you might have already took over the event by storm but for those who didn't - it's certainly worth a visit. Dura made new unisex hair for us, inspired by the famous actor River Phoenix. Next to a huge palette of color choices, the hair comes with three different styling options.

Since my editing is very subtle it might come as a surprise to some of you BUT (careful, sarcasm!) my pictures are heavily painted. Such surprise, very wow. But FEAR NOT MY FRIEND. I have not forsaken you. Here's a • raw preview • of the new hair ♡

I love this hair not only because it's a gender-neutral, cozy looking hair with an amazing level of detail and fine strands but also... doesn't it remind you of someone else too? Is it just me? Black hair, pale face, grumpy mood, face expression like he's constantly smelling sweaty socks or dead rats (maybe both), house teacher of Slytherin - no? Please someone safe me and make a Severus Snape cosplay for halloween with this (≧▽≦)

Before we continue with the credits I want to kindly thank Chiaki-sensei for their hard work on this hair. Thank you, Chiaki-sensei! Kudos to you and all my favorite creators who I included in this picture (also my bby and my PAPA CERB - you da best!). Biggest thanks to my lovely u10-kun for his patience and for modelling for me. Thanks for all your hard work my lovely creators and friends, you make every picture special (*´▽`*) ♡

Taken this evening at Swansea Bay. I got very wet knees getting this shot but liked the very low PoV!

Lovely early morning walk on the Mendips at Deerleap near Priddy looking down on the mist that coated the Somerset Levels.

Visalia, Ca.

A few glasses of wine and the fun begins.

This Monarch butterfly came and went from all the volunteer Swamp milkweed plants in the garden several times. I tried to get close with the macro lens and she was having none of it. The big glass worked best with me keeping in the shadow of the patio roof and shooting into the milkweeds around the pond.
