I just love the way that the yellow mustard plants increased the vividness of the lanscape around it.
Thunder, lightning and a Kingfisher in the rain, yay!!.... Several days in the making but we're getting there. This little chap seems to have snapped the tip off his bill...
Looking out over the levels at east lyng and apparently the depth of the waters here is over three meters deep in places.
One cold spell this last December produced some ice formations on the stream of our property. This particular one is of a kind not too common for most chilly seasons as the water level had gradually receded during the few cold days.
Submerged Tradition on the Korana River
Today we are walking along our Korana river. 🌿 I'm fascinated by this ancient tradition of preserving wooden boats – the boats are intentionally submerged in the river to protect them from decay and high water levels. Keeping a wooden boat in the sun and dry air only accelerates rot and cracks. When underwater, the wood swells, closes its pores, and thus conserves itself naturally. I came across this mooring where all the boats are submerged like this and had to capture it in black and white.

Danas šetamo uz našu Koranu. 🌿 Fascinira me ova drevna tradicija čuvanja drvenih čamaca – čamci se namjerno potope u rijeku kako bi se sačuvali od propadanja i visokog vodostaja. Držanje drvenog čamca na suncu i suhom zraku samo pospješuje truljenje i pukotine. Kada je pod vodom, drvo nabubri, zatvori pore i tako se prirodno konzervira. Naletio sam na ovaj vez gdje su svi čamci tako potopljeni i morao sam to zabilježiti u crno-bijeloj tehnici.

El col de Iseran culmina a una altitud de aproximadamente 2764 m en Saboya. Es el primer puerto de carretera de los Alpes franceses por su altitud, incluso es el paso de montaña de carretera más alto de todos los Alpes. La carretera que lo cruza, que une los valles de Maurienne y Tarentaise, está cerrada en invierno y queda dentro de las pistas de esquí de la estación de Val d'Isère durante la temporada. Construida durante el período de entreguerras, se ha convertido en un lugar importante para el Tour de Francia. El col de Iseran se encuentra a las puertas del parque nacional de la Vanoise.

The Iseran col culminates at an altitude of approximately 2764 m in Savoy. The President of the Republic Albert Lebrun inaugurated this road on July 10, 1937 and that same year the French Post issued a stamp for this opening.
In 1939, a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of All Prudence was built, according to the plans of the Savoyard architect Maurice Novarina. This chapel is classified as "20th Century Heritage".

or just the end of it. I wasn't sure how old this is, but now I've photographed it I looked to see if there was a name, it is T. Cooke London and must date from the 1890s, so I guess it is vintage. There is also a serial number 007. Maybe I'd better dust and polish it.
An image captured of the valley with Moose Creek surrounded by mountainsides while on a guided hiking tour across some tundra in Denali National Park. This was a view looking generally to the east around the North Face Lodge and Camp Denali area of the national park. While I could've worked with some angles to include more of the valley across the image, using that as a leading line, I decided to just angle my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward, capturing a sweeping view across the valley and tundra, while having it more “leveled out” view for the final image.

I was taken by the two different levels separated by the hand rail, and the geometric shapes, plus
the fairly minimalistic nature of the scene, given that it’s probably very busy at other times.
The two guys walking at right angles to one another also caught my eye.
