My client provided this Katuba art and hired me to do the calligraphy. The art is beautiful, I wish I knew his/her name.

I visited Bruges recently and though I'd expected to take plenty of architectural shots, I actually ended up fascinated by different varieties of lettering - gothic, romanesque round letter, humanist, modern. So I took quite a few pictures - deliberately trying to capture the texture of the text, rather than the words. Here's the first - on the tomb of Mary of Burgundy.
The Cricketers pub, Richmond Green, Richmond. The lettering is featured in plate 97 of Nicolete Gray, Lettering on buildings (1960).
i did some brush lettering today inspired by sfx lettering and with the idea of doing a series of famous comic, movie, and geek quotes. logo looks too big here.
This other gate, which is one of the entrances to the Casa de Serralves, matches in “strokes”, material and construction, almost in weight, to the “typographic gate”, but contrasts in the structure direction.
Nice Hobo typo. Almost convincing but for the correct spelling on the awning just below.

After spending my normal work day primarily on a computer, it is nice to step away from staring at a screen in the evenings. Hand lettering is just one of the analog based activities that I have been practicing that still allows me to fulfill my need for creative output.
