One of the largest palaces in Vinohrady area with offices, apartments, a café and a cinema was built by the owner of the Strašnice salami factory Emanuel Maceška (1877-1966). It was designed by the architect Jan Jarolím, the author of the interior decoration in the Art Deco style was František Kallik.
The Maceškuva Palace was built in 1927-1929. Notable was the Maceška Biograf, later the famous Bystrica Cinema or Bio Illusion. Prague's largest ground-floor biograph of the time, with 930 seats, a 16-piece orchestra for silent films, and sound equipment, it was inaugurated in August 1929. The luxurious and modern cinema remained in the possession of the family, unlike other Macešek property. In 1945, the Maceška Cinema fell under the national enterprise Czechoslovak State Film, In 1948, the Maceška Cinema was renamed the Bystrica Cinema. After two years, in 1950 it acquired a new name, Illusion. At the end of June 2001, the dilapidated biograph was taken over by the descendants of Emanuel Maceška. In April 2002, Bio Illusion was opened by film producer Miloslav Šmídmajer. In early 2006, actor Pavel Trávníček became the new tenant and opened the multicultural space "Theatre Illusion Biograf". In 2014, Cinema Illusion was replaced by the new cultural space ROYAL.

Seriously? That lettering in the banner? That's the font you meant to
go with? Because it looks like the file was sent to the printer
without the font, and the lettering wasn't converted to paths. I find
it hard to believe that it'd get past the approval stage like that, if
that were true.
