The pupils made a design using random overlapping letters. Adding shadow and colour in the background to create a third dimension.

Lettering on parts bins in the "Mule Barn"across the street from NA Graphics--original to the 1906 structure when the power company used this building as a stable and electrical parts warehouse--it has sat basically unused since 1938.

In response to this discussion on Typophile, I compiled a few snapshots of Berlin street signs – the idiosyncratic classic ‘West Berlin’ style, to be precise. By comparing the pairs and repeating letters, one can see that this not one typeface, but rather a very fuzzy lettering model.
The Berlin street sign styles have been made into digital fonts by Verena Gerlach and Ole Schäfer. This one is available as FF City Street Type Berlin West Original.
Used in early cartography. Tiny stylus traces a hollow letter form and transfers the motions (by way of hinges) to the mark-making device (usually a pen).
