In one of the Salzburg cemeteries, a fine monument with golden, ornate lettering.

Lettering fitted without any problems but I decided to cut and fit each letter indivdually because the default spacing made the name hard to read from a distance.

I recently created a class with CreativeLive on illustrative, hand-lettering. I teach the class using a tablet and Photoshop, but the majority of it could be done the analog way. I recorded the class while I was in San Francisco — it was a lot of fun hanging out with all the great people at CreativeLive.

The class is broken down into 14 easily digested lessons that you can follow along with on your own schedule. Included with the class are a number of extras including: working files, desktops, a discount code for Kyle Webster’s amazing Photoshop brushes, process PDF’s, textures, and more!

More or less done with the outline and shadowing of the gold leaf on my friends Sportster gas tank..

For this one I used House of Kolor "Royal Blue" and "Process Blue". I dont think I´m going to use HOK much more again.. 1-shot enamel is more glossy, more pigment, it flows better, it doesn´t dry as fast and is a little cheaper.. :-)

Anyway, now it´s time for my friend Kristian Sabel to add the clear to make the flake pop..

I love lettering! Typography design is a huge passion of mine. Not so much in the technical details, but the flow and visual structure of it. I'm not sure why, but I've always had an affinity for the way the lines move throughout the letters.

So, this shot is nothing about photography but rather a great example of old time, classic, decorative lettering and typography.

I found this on front of a rusing old wood stove that was behind a building in Gruene, Texas. The soft egg white ceramic background with the light blue just screams history to me, and I loved it. If only it was easy to make lettering like this with a computer these days.
