Grouped more together for the photo.

Printer paper, HB pencil

The lesson didn't say to post the drawing, but since I like this one, I'm posting it to this group. :)

Our teacher told us one day he would leave

And sail across a warm blue sea

To places he had only known from maps,

And all his life had longed to be.

The house he lived in was narrow and grey

But in his mind's eye he could see

Sweet-scented jasmine clinging to the walls,

And green leaves burning on an orange tree.

He spoke of the lands he longed to visit,

Where it was never drab or cold.

I couldn't understand why he never left,

And shook off the school's stranglehold.

Then halfway through his final term

He took ill and never returned,

And he never got to that place on the map

Where the green leaves of the orange trees burned.

The maps were redrawn on the classroom wall;

His name was forgotten, it faded away.

But a lesson he never knew he taught

Is with me to this day.

I travel to where the green leaves burn

To where the ocean's glass-clear and blue,

To all those places my teacher taught me to love

But which he never knew.

The Jumpers from Norway can be as loud as the children.

When you can't see a clear pattern at 10 metres, you need glasses.

THE TEACHING OF THE DONKEY

One day a farmer’s donkey fell into a well. The animal cried loudly for hours, while the farmer tried to find something to do to get him out.

Finally, the farmer decided that the donkey was old and the well was already dry and needed to be covered anyway; that it really wasn't worth pulling the donkey out of the well.

He invited all his neighbours to come help him. They each grabbed a shovel and began to throw dirt into the well.

The donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly loud. Then, to everyone's surprise, he quieted down after a few shovelfuls of dirt.

The farmer finally looked down into the well and was amazed at what he saw... with each shovelful of dirt, the donkey was doing something incredible: It was_

Always ask someone sober to take the photo if you want it in focus 😉

I am still a complete amateur when it comes to photography, there is so much do try, to learn and to make a mess off. For all the times I try something and it fails miserably, I learn something and hope to compose/shoot something better in the future.

This weekend was no exception! I have been wanting to try and shoot some star trails for a long time and this weekend saw a new moon and a relatively cloudless sky. With these conditions I jumped in the car headed out west to try and avoid the city lights.

The lesson most learnt? finding the location during the day!!! Somehow I thought I could frame/compose something adequately in the dark, I was very wrong. The evening was not a complete waste, apart from some valuable lessons learnt, I got a great view of the night sky...

July 2004 - we went to the beach at the Outer Banks, North Carolina, during Aaron's trip down to see me - he learned that the public showers feel like ice water when coming off the hot beach.

Just because you are in the sanatorium or children's home hospital, lessons will still have to be done.

Raine is really getting into her swimming lessons, she's come a long way in the past month.

This particular jump did not end well. There were tears. But there was also a resolve to get better at it, because, as he said, "the flying part was awesome. It was just the landing part that wasn't so much fun."

Giving the first lesson to the one who needs it the most.

This goes way back to the big 11-hour hike out to three waterfalls along Ruckel Creek with a few great photographers: Victor, Ara, Greg, and John. The best bushwhack I've been on yet. Great time.

It's funny, although we hadn't planned on it, John took a shot similar to mine.

Someone named Zach, who I've never met, went up here over winter and took a shot from this location as well. It's the second shot from the top of the page here. Thanks to Greg for providing me with that link.

More piling stuff on .... LOL. Fun, messy fun. One more lesson left!
