Sofia was struggling with an AP Computer Science concept and got exasperated with it, of course no one in this household could swoop in and help her with this! It was so interesting to see how she handled it--she made up her own Montessori lesson "to teach it to myself"--just goes to show, you can take the girl out of Montessori, but not the Montessori out of the girl.
It's been 4 years since Sofia was in Montessori school (she's a Sophomore, Montesorri education "stopped" at 6th Grade).

Mama elephant is showing baby how to get the peanuts out of the plastic can. Shaking it and throwing on the ground is one sure way of finding the peanuts. A wonderful enrichment program for the elephants at Taronga Zoo.

In Washington, D.C., high school U.S. history teacher Bill Stevens taught about the struggle at Standing Rock using the Zinn Education Project lesson, "Standing With Standing Rock." As a culminating activity for the lesson, his students went to the #NativeNationsRise march on March 10, 2017 to learn, to make history, and to act in solidarity. Yesterday Momma Mia and I went out to Chilli's and Kohls. They had this wonderful coaster there. I thought it was just a brilliant life lesson on a cocktail coaster. So, I took a picture and then brought it home. Hehee.

Decided to eat dinner in the Aloha Stadium prior to the start of the Nevada vs. Hawaii game. No veggie sandwich this time. Was going for the steak plate (www.flickr.com/photos/100yearstolive/4953253739/), but $12!!! Settled for this kabob(?) plate @ $7. Pretty tasty, but only tickled the tummy. Held me longer than the veggie sandwich, though.
