The first Purchase in an attempt to upgrade my Cannon S3IS. From Lensmate I bought (clockwise from top left) a 52mm lens adapter, rubber lens hood, clip on cover and a Hoya multi coated UV filter. The adapter is so I can add filters and other lenses to the camera.
As I tried to get a close-up of "Savannah," my Savannah monitor lizard (Varanus exanthemanticus exanthemanticus), she nipped the lenscap, which I hadn't realized was dangling in front of her. I got an awesome early Christmas gift. A new lens cap for my "Fritz" Nikon. My orignal one got chewed up by a little dog named Peanut. How he got it I have no idea but all those little Poms are sneeky little dogs. I am super happy about this cause I tend to be a little clumsy. So now I don't have to hold my breath when ever I take my camera any where in fear that I will hit the lens. I love early Christmas presents...hehehe.
Had some horribly sad news today. Found out that one of my sister's best friends (and a friend of the family for as long as I can remember) took his own life last week. My photo is a tribute to him today - when I first moved to London about 14 years ago and was struggling to find work, Kevin (a super talented animator and film-maker) gave me a day's work as his runner while he did various bits of filming all around London. I swear all I did all day was follow him about and hold his lens cap - and at the end of the day he gave me £50 for my efforts. A true legend, who will be terribly missed.

DPS assignment this week is 'Up close and personal". This assignment gave me the opportunity to dust of the macro bellows and 500mm mirror lens I had sitting in my camera bag.

There are parts of Amsterdam that looks like you are in Venice. This scene of Amsterdam gives you a view behind the houses of the Red Light District. On the left you can see some of the red light coming out of the windows, reflecting on the house on the other side.
I finally got around to fitting the Ricoh LC-1 iris lens cap to my camera today - I really don't know why I didn't buy one of these sooner - it's such a nicely made thing!
That lenscap is 2.75" inches wide, making this stick around 6 inches long.
In fact, it is a Giant Walking Stick, Megaphasma denticrus. Probably a female (based on size) and the longest insect in North America.
The Ricoh Self Retaining Lens Cap for GX200 (LC-1) to be exact. Google it. I'm not the first to do this.
