Thanks to Capt. Richard C. Barone for identifying this as a larks head knot.

From tonight's collaboration with Tim Gamble, this was made using my new Samyang 12mm ultra wide prime, a newly made LP tool and lens cap, tripod swapping faffery. All shot in one photographic exposure

Second roll of film.

I know, I was just playing around

while waiting for a friend in my car. Wearing shorts!... honest Thought it looked weird and took a picture.

film swap with holly (back in september...i was looking through these photos today and realized i hadn't shared all of them!)

i can only assume that holly forgot to take her lenscap off for this one because i see no hint of double exposure :P

Crazy Tuesday - Made of Plastic - DIANA-F cameras and flash. Originally made as a cheap plastic box camera by the Great Wall Plastics Factory of Kowloon, Hong Kong in the 1960s and now being re-manufactured as a cult Lomography film camera. The camera with the flash is an original 1960s camera whilst the other is a modern reproduction. The cameras are fitted witha simple plastic meniscus lens which gives soft focus effects thta can be used to creative effect.

Am still in my warped phase.

The original image is below. The camera lay on my desk, I looked through at the image and clicked. I loved the light.

After playing with it for a while the shoe emerged.

So elegant, so thoroughly unwearable.

Something to keep on the shelf and admire.

I came across this shot in the ole' archives. Chewacla Falls, is just outside of Auburn, Alabama.

Another from last weeks trip to Lower Antelope Canyon. Tumbleweed provided by Photographer, Stephen Oachs.

Thanks Stephen. This was taken just moments before he borrowed my new fisheye lens, and stole my lenscap.

The good old days!

Pentax Spotmatic - vintage circa 1966

Macro Mondays 19-04-2021

Theme: Circles

Lens caps from the early days of the Asahi Pentax SLR.

Left to right the caps of:

preset Takumar 135mm f:3.5

preset Takumar 105 mm f:2.8

Auto-Takumar 105mm f:2.8

The preset Takumars have a 46mm filter-thread, the Auto-Takumar a 49mm thread. The silver cap of the Auto-Takumar sports the logo of the Asahi Optical Company.

The name "Takumar" is said to have been bestowed on the lenses in honour of the Japanese-American painter and photographer Takuma Kajiwara (1876-1960)

The big daddy of them all (in the background) is the cap of a Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 500mm f:4.5.

The overall width of the scene is just under 7cm.

Taken with a Super-Multi-Coated MACRO-TAKUMAR 100mm f:4

HMM!

PS. My previous picture ("Sunset Suburban Fence") includes a comment on old Pentax lens caps.

If you are interested in TAKUMAR and other M-42 lenses, do have a glance at my albums:

“And the seasons they go ’round and ’round

And the painted ponies go up and down

We’re captive on the carousel of time

We can’t return we can only look behind

From where we came

And go round and round and round

In the circle game.” ~ Joni Mitchell

Have to share a story about this shot, the carousel is inside a mall and of course I had two problems A. nobody was using it and B I knew I needed to do a long exposure and I had no tripod! The solution to A was asking the operator nicely if she could pretty please run the carousel without people, and B was solved using a table, my tablet, a to go container, my cell phone and then the lenscap :) I engaged the self timer then backed away and hoped the thing didn't get bumped. The slowest shot I got was 1.6 seconds at f/22

I was asked to be part of a film for Dartmoor National Park to help promote wild camping. I had a great couple of days with a film crew, shooting some amazing areal sequences, hiking for miles across the moors, all finished off with a great night's camping. This is an image of my spot. Tent was kindly sponsored by Cotswold Outdoor & what a great tent it is too.

A Ponte da Saudade, hoje, na Ilha de Paquetá, depois de um dia procurando casas. Voltamos correndo e, embora não perdemos a barca, perdi a capa da lente grande angular!

The "Ponte da Saudade" (Bridge of Longing). After a day of house hunting on Paquetá Island. We had to run back to catch the ferry and, though we didn't miss the ferry, the lenscap of the wide-angle lens went missing.

Handheld with 9mm Fisheye Lenscap (Olympus)

Shot with Canon EOS 400D + Canon 18-55mm

The bad weaher that I wrote about yesterday persuades me to be creative in my usual environment. I always wanted to use my disco light for a shot and now I had the time to realize this. This is pSOOC(practically out of camera), I didnt do any processing but cropping.

If you are interested in a a view behind the scenes of this shot why don't you take a look at my new Blog?

Olympus E-PM1 & Olympus LensCap 15/8

I have enjoyed exploring Yosemite today, however I was incredibly tired so I decided to shoot a classic scene rather than going off the beaten track in search of an alternative composition. It doesn't bother me that this has been photographed before, because I have never shot it, therefore it is brand new to me. The lighting was phenomenal; vibrant red light, just kissing the top of El Capitan on the left & Half Dome in the far distance.

I guess birds had in in for me today. First, while watching the flying pig marathon, a bird pooped on my head and my D300. Then later at the zoo, one of these beauties pooped on my head and the D300 again, and while I was distracted, this guy dove in and stole my lens cap out of my camera bag.

This image was captured at the end of a long, cold day. I had given up any hope of finding a composition worth shooting and was ready for home. I took the drone for one last flight and spotted this frozen river from the air. It was worth investigating and I came away with this final image.

Canon by Olympus.....

I broke my own rule; Don't over do the exposure on the icebergs, because they are always moving... but not this one. This Iceberg was isolated, static and begging to be photographed in all ways possible.

I used a Lee big stopper on this image, which really helped separate the iceberg from the pastel waters, making the whole thing feel more punchy, take a look here. I was pleased with the result.

Jpeg straight out of the camera.

Going slightly over the top with the waving of the lights in the culvert, inverting the camera and then plonking the washing machine drum on top of the camera. Part of the benefit of doing this in the nice pitch-black culvert is you don't even need to use the lenscap when removing the camera from the tripod.

There isn't much better than a crisp autumnal morning. It's that time of year again when the colours start to change and the landscapes burst in to vibrant yellows, reds and browns. I will be shooting as much as possible between now & mid November. Other than snow fall, this is my favourite time to be out with the camera.

Final version of this study. a few new doo-dads here and there.

credit goes to Mr12bleau for the waffling, Jake for the scope lenscap, Fawkz for the mag plate, and WalkingDead for parts of the suppressor.

(That white block at the bottom is odd, there arnt any parts hidden down there, so Im not sure why its there.

The last of my series of Notting Hill Carnival photos, for now at least, and probably my favourite - there is a voyeuristic pleasure in taking photos of other photographers. Even more so when they are as appealing as this woman who stood next to me for a while while we photographed the crowds.
