Camera seems to leak IR light. Took a shot, but had forgotten lenscap on, other shots with lenscap off clearly shows much brighter area same area as this with cap on. Filter was on really tight.. Photo has not been altered in any way.

An interesting consequence of macro lenses is that to get the 1:1 (lifesize magnification ) and magnifications in that region, the lens to subject distance must be fairly small and as a consequence the depth of field is often very shallow.

Deep depth of fields require lots of light to properly expose or a very long exposure conversely....

Thank god for high ISO's

With the exception of the 18-55mm SAM Sony lens the rest of the gear is full frame capable and consists of a 2x tele-converter made by Vivitar - a 70-210mm Minolta zoom - a 28-80mm Minolta zoom and a Auto Rikenon prime lens of 55mm f2.8.

They can in fact all be multiplied by the formula 1.5 giving longer focal range by a half again.

My set up for the Farne islands - C80.2.7R-Olive Camera and lens cover with C81.2.5R-Olive End of lens cover/Cap. No need for camouflage but ideal for protection against sea spray on the boats and the sea mist over the islands. The camera and lens cover has a pocket for my CF and SD cards and a lens cloth. The C81 End of lens cover/cap is connected to the cover with a quick release clip. I keep the end cap on while on the boats and can just flip it off the lens when I wanted to take a photo. If you’re out taking photos for a while you can take the cap off and put in your pocket or camera bag. I'm using a Nikon D800 with a 200-400 lens attached to a Mono pod. The cover set is just a special at the moment but it is a registered design® of wildlifewatchingsupplies.com.

I just got the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro lens, and I wanted to an image to test the sharpness. The lens cap turned out to be a good subject.

Strobist: Canon 580EX II triggered by a Cactus v5, sitting just 1 foot from the subject on the table, but pointed away from the subject and bounced back off a sliver reflector at about 30 degrees up and 3 feet from the subject.

Gelatin-silver photograph on Ultrafine Silver Eagle VC FB photographic paper, image size 24.6cm X 19.6cm, from a 8x10 Fomapan 100 negative exposed in a Tachihara 810HD triple extension field view camera fitted with a 610mm f9 Apo-Nikkor lens.

Titled, signed, and stamped verso.

The 5 second exposure was executed by removing and replacing the lenscap. Lens aperture was f128 but the small amount of image diffraction is invisible in a 8x10 contact photograph.

So... I finally got my new DSLR. I went with a Canon Rebel T3. I'm reallly happy :). I know they say shooting film is great but it sure feels good to look down and see my picture on the screen! So here's one of my first shots with my new camera. Hopefully many more to come!

Here we have, from left to right, an EOS-58mm screw thread adapter - normal used to reverse mount lenses for macro work; a C.PL filter assembly sans filter, press fit to a Menlo Whitebalance Lenscap (WBLCA) assembly, sans whitebalance insert - this provides a 360 deg. rotational element to this unit as well as ease of mounting.

The WBLCA is attached to a rear lens board which is mounted to a modified ground glass mounting bracket scavenged from out of the top of a Seagull 4B-I TLR.

The focus rail was cut out of a Tianya Filter Hood (based on the Cokin P Square Filter system), as was the front L bracket.

Surplus tripod screws were used to hold it all together.

A new addition to the Nikon F2. Went into my local camera store for a lenscap and a roll of seamless paper and walked out with this very nice example of Nikon's classic 105mm lens.

The wrong 58mm cap for the Technikar me thinks, but I nice cap nonetheless.

Expensive and rare lens caps even have their own serial numbers. What a privilege to be a Schneider-Kreuznach lenscap!

Serial number: 223/27 60ø

Perhaps this is a clue as to which lens this lens cap does belong? I don't think it's the official lens cap of the Linhof Technikar.

My friend once more approached me to do some product shots for her. This time it's for the JJC Auto lens cap for the LX5. I get to keep the cap in return. :)

I lost the lens cap of my camera and had ti buy a replacement. I feel that I have been judged, found guilty and sentenced to displaying the results of my carelessness so that passers-by may laugh. (Or I am displaying my allegiance to the Netherlands while I am in Amsterdam.)

the latest additions to our (zoo-like) household. we now have a grand total of 17 goldfish, 2 suckerfish, 1 siamese kitten (Rufus - currently 8.5 months old), and 2 grey tabby kittens.

Tobias is the rather obscene monochrome one, and Seth is his sepia-tinted, slightly scrawnier brother.

fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jardin_du_Luxembourg

I got to try out a Carl Zeiss lens today, whilst looking for a new lens, It was only the 12mm Touit, but this single photo is possibly the sharpest photo I've taken.

I had to let him play with the lens cap for a while before he settled down and allowed me to take this one where he's looking very contemplative... :)

This photo on my blog My world through my senses... - "What do you mean "Canon" "?

Tive que o deixar brincar com a tampa da objectiva durante um bocado até ele se acalmar e me deixar tirar esta em que ele está um ar muito contemplativo... :)

My original lens cap (left) was lost for months, I never lose photography equipment, so I knew that I would find it one day, I just didn't think it would have been in my bathroom! I had to get a replacement cap in the meantime (right), thanks for the hard work. Only Photographers understand the pain of losing a lens cap.

A lot into not much

I replaced the cool Canon Ultrasonic lens cap with a Sensei center-pinch lens cap. Also, I attached a B+W UV filter, which brings the lens cap a little farther forward. This makes it easier to pinch from the sides, but it is still easiest to pinch from the center.
