Think of your camera's sensor (or film) as a projection screen. Direct a beam of light onto odd shaped transparent material such as plastic or glass so that the refracted pattern of light goes into your (lensless) camera.

Note - never aim a laser directly at the sensor!

Hi folks, this will be the last in this series of the Thrasher, I hope everyone understand's why I do these things, it's just that when you can get them after not seeing them for years you just do it, hoping for your understanding.

Thank you so much for the visit and have a glorious day.

Experimenting this morning, and I learned a lot:

1. I don't like an audience when working either shooting or editing.

2. I need to clean my lenses and subjects thoroughly with a lint free cloth before shooting.

3. I need to double check my settings after resetting the camera so I don't shoot and save my images in the lowest jpg setting.

4. I need to remember not to give up on my ideas but try again later when time allows, this is supposed to be fun!

Um, how do I teach my students about lens flare? (Sincere apologies for HDR haters)

Having an incredible amount of reach allows you to do some unique things with a lens. Zooming in on the moon as it rises is one of them. In this shot I've shot the moon at 600mm and cropped in a little over 50%, meaning that this is more like 1300mm of reach. I've got some cool shots of the moon in full light, but I wanted to share this more moody shots where layers of clouds are drifting in front of the moon. I've given this shot a little bit of a faded look in Exposure X2 to enhance the mood. It was still very yellow at this point, and I've tried to preserve that here. You can see more images that I've taken with the lens here: bit.ly/2dU7diG or view my first look video here: bit.ly/2dn7bBP

It seems like the Color-Solagon enlarging lenses are almost completely unknown, even among people very familiar with a wide range of enlarging lenses.

Thanks to a couple of helpful people here, as well as the wonderful help of the FOMU - Fotomuseum Antwerpen and its library, I was able to confirm that the Color-Solagon features a 6 elements in 4 groups plasmat design (similar to most of the Componon-S lenses from Schneider Kreuznach), but the only real source I‘ve seen is on the "Color Solagon II 60 mm", which was apparently sold with some of the Varioscop 35/44 enlargers! I wasn‘t able to find a single document on the 70, 80 or 90 mm variants unfortunately, but I‘d guess they were made for a different purpose - either for one of Agfa’s Minilab or some industrial application.

I was able to find some of the Color-Solagon lenses, but unfortunately most of them are in pretty bad shape with either haze, fungus or some mechanical damage, so it‘s impossible to judge the quality in their original state.

The "Color-Solagon DII 90 mm F 4.5" shown here is not mentioned anywhere on the internet as far as I could find at least... I think it might be very similar to the 80 mm variant though.

If you know more about it, or someone who could, I‘d really appreciate any help!

This is my Micro Four Third lens collections. Focal length from 7mm to 200mm equivalent to 14mm to 400mm in 35mm terms. I believe the Lumix lenses is made of Leica glass

Still I am missing a telephoto macro lens and there is none available in this format. The only option is go to other brand such as Canon or Nikon or even legacy lens. Or I can opted for Sigma 105mm f2.8 from Four Third format which will give me a slow SAF capability

Setup:

3 white framed canvas - bought it very cheap from art shop

Slick Mini II tripod

Olympus E-P2

OM to Micro 4/3 adapter

Zuiko OM 50/1.4

Setup the 3 canvases one for the base, one for the background and one on the left as a reflector as the natural light is on the right.

Set the camera to Aperture Priority, ISO 400 mounted on a tripod.

Using the magnifying setting I magnify the focus area 10x and turn the focus ring manually until the image look sharp on the LCD and press the shutter button

Taken with Nikon d80 equipped with 18-55 lens and external flash. No editing.

AFTER YEARS of not getting a clear cut capture, always a reed in the way, bits of the wader missing, then saw ten snipes at once, and mostly in the open, was like having your birthday and Christmas all at once, now have so many images....25-28 cm in length.

Good to see you visit, love reading your comments even when I get the bird identification hopelessly wrong........ Stay safe Tomx.

DUMPY ROBUST WADER, both legs and bill are relatively short and stout. In winter they normally form large flocks, a non-breeding visitor, breeds in the high Artic, think this lone one, did not follow the write up, always good to see, at Herne Bay Harbour , Kent.

THANK YOU, for your visit, love those kind comments, so encouraging. Weekend almost upon us, Stay safe, God bless, keep a smile on your face, and love in your heart..... Tomx.

While waiting for the consult. I just love optics and lenses. All is good by the way.

People seem to have much passion for scarce things than things with large quantity. The reason behind is very obvious. Scarce things are more precious and valuable. Leica has introduced many high quality lenses of little productions, which have attracted a lot of collectors. Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 aspherical produced during 1989-1994 is one of the excellent representatives. As the production processes were very hard and complex, it had only a limited production of 2000 items. In spite of the bigger size, its optical design and the sharpness of photos are much more excellent than early Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4. Thus, it has been chased after by many collectors.

Leica has always been having a strict requirement on the optical design of lens. Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 aspherical consists of construction of 9 elements in 5 groups with unique feature of two front and back concave outer surfaces. The lens contains two hand-polished aspherical surfaces. They are of the same polishing method used in Noctilux 50mm f/1.2 in year 1966. Noctilux 50mm f/1.2 is the first lens in the world produced with aspherical surfaces to improve the aberration problem of non-aspherical surfaces. However, the hand polishing method is very time consuming and difficult. It cannot guarantee success. Leica experienced a lot of failures without giving up. After a long period of six years, these 2000 excellent pieces were finally issued. Leica’s spirit makes this scarce lens more valuable.

CONSPICUOUS AND VOCAL winter visitors, have become more tolerant of human observers, astonishingly close views can often be obtained, best to sit fairly near, and they may move towards you slowly grazing on certain seaweeds, at the tide edge. Camera: Pentax Q7

Lens: Pentax DA 55-300mm HD WR via Pentax K-Q adapter (259mm-1410mm EQ 35mm)

Loupe: Kamerar QV-1

Flask: Metz 58 AF-1 + Better Beamer flash extender

Tripod and Head: Vanguard

If you look closely, you'll see the K-Q adapter mounting plate is reversed. That's so the Kamerar plate can be mounted there. The Kamerar plate is compatible with the Manfrotto 501PL plate and slides into my Manfrotto 701HDV fluid pan video head perfectly. Without this change, the Kamerar whn mounted directly to the Q sits too high.

One of these days I'll spring for a DA300+TC or wait to see if Pentax releases a new zoom soon. Until then, the DA55-300mm will do double duty as birding lens and smallish motorcycle travel long-zoom. I've already got some nice results from bits and pieces of this kit-still waiting to use the Better Beamer in real-life situations.

Taken with another 35mm prime lens and an extension tube.
