Again i love these lens balls, the light & image they create are so wonderful, reminds me of when I was a child & I thought their was magical portals into a fairy tail world
Again I played with my 1.4/55 Revuenon, trying to imitate the bokeh of a mirror lens.
Calculational the "aperture" only absorbs half an f-stop but oddly enough the viewfinder looks much darker. Therefore it's very difficult to focus correctly. Also the camera's lightmeter seems to see the picture much darker and tries to overexposure it. I have no idea about the reason...
PS.
The disc is inside the lens, next to the iris aperture.
Imagine archaeologists thousands of years from now, and from wherever, are digging up the holy city of Wetzlar. They would find things like these: Elmars! They would probably be ignorant that we are dealing here with the 1950s to early 1960s Leitz Elmar 4/135mm and the two collapsible 4/90mm and 2.8/50 lenses. Whenever archaeologists can't explain an object they tend to declare it as "ritual" or as "religious". Of course they would discover the optical capabilities of these tubular objects, but explaining them is quite a different matter. One theory, I would think, would explain the lenses as a priestly device to focus more closely on the divine. Or, alternatively, as a concentrator of divine light which could then be "collected" and passed on as a blessing to the believers. Pure photography, isn't it? Fuji X-Pro3.
When I'm ready to make a photograph, I think I quite obviously see in my minds eye something that is not literally there in the true meaning of the word. I'm interested in something which is built up from within, rather than just extracted from without. -

THIS BEAUTIFUL FALCON, joined in the the search for my waxwing, as I moved along the track, so did the Kestrel, so had to shoot a few shots, in very poor light, and all the wrong settings, it would have been rude not to, but thought they will only get binned when I sort them. The quality is not there when you zoom in, loads of noise. Something about the image I just liked, so you have to suffer my sub standard photography. Its been wet for so long am climbing the walls to get out in some sunshine.
CAN anybody sex this one for me?

I took the kids to a place called Butterfly World when they were here, borrowed a smal and very lovely camera that was very light and compact and loved it, so bought the up-graded version and will start to play to see what happens.
Have a great day everyone, and thank you all so much for stopping by.
This is my post for tomorrow folks, I've wanting to get this one out there for a while to see the difference in the way it's received by some of my friends.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
Please remember folks I kook at all images but do not comment on 2-3-or more images posted per day, just no time, besides I feel that they receive many less comments when that happens, hope you all unserastand.
Better not, it might break my foot! 😅 A couple of words about my experience with this strange (and cumbersome) lens:
This is a giant and heavy motorized zoom lens originally used in a Noritsu minilab. I (clumsily) removed the motors and adapted it in a very haphazard way. From a conversation with Robert OToole I knew that I had to brace myself for heavy chromatic abberations and so my expectations were somewhat muted already.
It‘s safe to say this isn‘t a great lens to adapt. It also stands to reason though that there are interesting shots to be taken with every lens imaginable. So keeping that in mind I didn‘t try to go for maximizing IQ but rather just have fun with the lens. That goal was certainly achieved, you be the judge if the shortcomings of this lens (or my misuse) ruin it or not!
Shot with a Noritsu "Zoom NC 3x-15.6x" lens on a Canon EOS R5.

DISCLAIMER: This Snowy Owl was photographed from a safe distance, using a 600mm prime lens, with a 1.4 Teleconverter on a cropped sensor, which is a 1260mm equivalent. The image was also cropped in post editing.
Snowy Owl
The Snowy Owl (Bubo scandiacus) is a large, white owl of the typical owl family. Snowy Owls are native to Arctic regions in North America and Eurasia. Younger Snowy Owls start with darker plumage, which turns lighter as they get older. Males are almost all white, while females have more flecks of gray plumage.

If you need a lens hood for a vintage lens (camera), a 3D printer is a great thing. You don't need planes and chisels, of course.
