After a hectic week full of meetings and deadlines, what better way to end it than hanging out with friends... Playing around with friends (including Dezig), playing some music, and taking photos... so relaxing.
One note about the bass. This is one weird-left-handed-bass. I just learnt that they actually made a special type of left handed one instead of just flipping a right handed one (silly me).
This bass is owned by my friend. He is actually right handed, but he is sooo obsessed with Paul McCartney, he learn to play bass the other way around (I suspect it is just his excuse so that nobody can mess around with it. It's true, nobody can handle it for more than 5 minutes, ha ha...).
Anyway... Have a nice weekend everyone!

`The site of Lugano and Mandalay was part of Crown Portion 95, purchased by Charles J Gerrard in1840 for £4/15/- per acre. The Dane Severin Salting, subdivided the land and created Clarke Street.
in 1854. Fifty-eight years later, the master builder, Lawrence E Edwards, built both Lugano and Mandalay in the one year, 1912. He lived in Lugano, and the first lessees of Mandalay were Hugh Haynes, an.
accountant, Eric Lesley, who was a chemist and, later, Alice Murphy, in 1916. Lugano was the lefthanded plan and Mandalay the right-handed. Otherwise, they were identical.'
"All models sport Swiss mechanics, and most feature crisply fonted numerals and aerospace-grade 316L stainless steel frames; designs take inspiration from vintage Russian dive watches and compasses, F86 Sabre Jet gauges, and control panels from Korean War-era crash boats -- which, despite their name, apparently had more than one mode of operation."

20th May 2010, I had the pleasure of doing my own photo shoot. Of course there were no professional stylist, makeup artist and photographer (with assistant), I took all this with my Nikon D40x- no tripod,no external flash, no softbox, just the cam -myself and my left hand -(i am lefthanded by the way)
Nothing like an entourage to draw attention. Cheerio for now, dahlings!

This short play by Clarence Coo about left handed people is really a clever reference to gays and lesbians in high school.
Drury High School, North Adams, Massachusetts
There were two exits from this car park - Floor 6 and Floor 9. If you came out from Floor 6, this was what you encountered - a sign saying "Turn Left Only" and an arrow pointing to the RIGHT. It was like this for years!

they just assume you'll use your right hand for data entry and use the left to "obscuse" your PIN. this assumption makes me want to use my left hand to beat people on the face.
This is from the play, "Removing the Glove" by Clarence Coo.
While it is about left handed people, it is actually a clever allagory about gays and lesbians in high school and the homophobia they face. The play is offered by Baker's Plays. The Drury Drama Team of North Adams, Massachusetts is mentioned in the script as one of the first groups to perform the play.
Size of the full shell approx 22cm.

Catching up on the astronomy notes I've missed the past few class days (just can't seem to get up in time). Thank god the professor posts the powerpoints online. I'm already lost as it is.
David Wells pitched well last night vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks. He actaully got ejected from the game AFTER he was taken out. The man has a mean temper. He is also the fattest pitcher I have ever seen. I wonder if his recent diagnosis of diabetes has affected him. I hope he can get himself together.
The policemen on duty outside No. 10 Downing Street (the official residence of the British Prime Minister). May 1975. The Prime Minister at the time was Harold Wilson, and we were told that he was in residence at the time.
In those days, Downing Street was open to pedestrians. You could walk right up to the door of No 10 and take photos. In these more security-conscious days, Downing Street is completely closed off to everything except official vehicles.

This is a past self-portrait from my Daily Portrait Project, in which I made a non-photographic image of myself every day for three years, from 3/15/07 to 3/15/10. Soon they'll all be loaded on flickr, you can find them in this set: www.flickr.com/photos/juliakay/sets/72157619599543783/
The first year of the project is now available as a book: www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/2418516

"Hockey Goalie Tattoo" by Patti Deters. This tattoo shows a hockey goalie in position as he prepares to block any and all pucks that might come his way during the game. This is a real tattoo and is one of the best I've seen for someone who plays a goalie in the sport of hockey. The image has a square crop and you can choose between right-handed and left-handed. Please see more images at patti-deters.pixels.com/featured/hockey-goalie-tattoo-pat....
I have loved this book so much that I did not completely went out from it. I'm still living in this special artistic atmosphere of Paris during the first 50 years of the 20th century.
I felt like learning how to draw. I decided to accept to be ridiculous and childish in drawing for the first time since I was about 5 years old. The mouse in the right hand, the pen in the left hand because I'm lefthanded but I know how to live in a world made for righthanded people......... YOLO !
